Innsbruck, Austria
Innsbruck is an outstanding tourist destination, it has something of a central European capital about it with its royal palace and gardens and other regal looking, almost imperial style architecture. Of course it is the capital of Tyrol! It is surrounded by the Karwendel mountains with the Hafelekarspitze reaching 2,334 metres to the north and the Patscherkofel 2,246 m and Serles 2,718 m to the south which are close to the Brenner Pass some 30 km from Innsbruck.
Innsbruck is an internationally renowned winter sports centre, and hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics as well as the 1984 and 1988 Winter Paralympics. Innsbruck also hosted the first Winter Youth Olympics in 2012.
For my stay, I left my motorhome at the excellent Natterersee campsite which is linked to Innsbruck by a free bus which runs roughly once an hour.
The outstanding tourist sites are of course the old town which is a mixture of German and Italian to my eye. I also went up the Nordkette mountain which is linked to the centre of town via a finicular railway. One can also see the Alpine Zoo which is overlooks the town to the north and has an excellent thematic collection of Alpine wildlife. The famous Swarovski factory is nearby at Wattens, one can take a bus which runs every two hours or so.

Hitler's childhood house and parents' grave, Leonding, Austria
In November 1898 Hitler's father Alois bought this house in Leonding, a district of Linz, Austria at 16 Michaelsbergstrasse for 7,700 Kronen. Adolf then spent the next seven years here. His parents are buried in the cemetery which is on the other side of the road and whereas the grave site is now empty as a relative of the first wife of Alois Hitler refused to pay the rent in 2012, the plot is empty and we can see where it was. At the entrance to the graveyard from the other side there is a war memorial and we can see the names of the local victims of Leondings most notorious son.
