Naarden, Netherlands
Naarden was granted its city rights in 1300 and later developed into a fortressed garrison town. The Saint-Vitus church is a gothic basilica built in the 14e/ 15e century. The church came into the hands of the Protestants in 1576. Of great importance are the 16th century painted timber vaults. The Town Hall dates from 1601 and is a good example of Netherlandish Renaissance.
Muiden, Muiderslot and Fort Pampus | The Netherlands #1
In this first episode of the series 'History on Tracks', I visit the Muiderslot. This castle was originally built in the 13th century by Floris V, count of Holland, to control a key (trade)route to the city of Utrecht. After visiting the Muiderslot, I continue to the island Pampus, which was fortified in the 19th century to protect the city of Amsterdam from naval attacks.

In deze aflevering van Is Het Een Uitje Waard? bezoekt Oskar Naarden Vesting. Deze eeuwenoude vesting functioneerde vroeger als verdedigingswerk tegen aanvallen vanuit het oosten. Naarden (Utrecht) is een van de best bewaarde vestingsteden van Nederland en biedt dus genoeg bezienswaardigheden, zoals het Vestingmuseum en vele historische gebouwen. Ideaal voor een dagje uit of als tussenstop tijdens het wandelen of fietsen.
Op de fiets van Arnhem naar en door Amsterdam
Van Arnhem naar Amsterdam via Driel, Wageningen, Veenendaal, Renswoude, Amersfoort, Soest en de Soesterduinen, Lage Vuursche, Hilversum, Bussum en Weesp. In A'dam zelf: via de Bijlmer door de Linnaeusstraat, langs het Tropenmuseum via de Jodenbreestraat, door de Oude en Nieuwe Hoogstraat, over de Dam en door de Jordaan. Westerstraat, Lindengracht en uiteindelijk Staatsliedenbuurt: de Wittenkade.
Na Amsterdam ben ik nog doorgefietst naar Breukelen, maar daar heb ik geen opnames van gemaakt. Het regende flink en dat geeft geen mooie beelden. Mijn humeur was ook iets minder toen.
Lange rit: 168 kilometer. Langste dagrit die ik de afgelopen jaren heb gemaakt, maar uitstekend doorstaan.
