Kassel is a city located on the Fulda River in northern Hesse, Germany. Kassel is the administrative seat of the Regierungsbezirk Kassel and the Kreis of the same name. The former capital of the state of Hesse-Kassel has many palaces and parks, including the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kassel is also known for the documenta exhibitions of contemporary art.
Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe includes Wilhelmshöhe Palace (with the Antiquities Collection and Old Masters), the Hercules monument, and the Lions Castle. Wilhelmshöhe Palace above the city, was built in 1786 by landgrave Wilhelm IX of Hesse-Kassel. The palace is now a museum and houses an important collection of Graeco-Roman antiques and a fine gallery of paintings comprising the second largest collection of Rembrandts in Germany. It is surrounded by the beautiful Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe with many appealing sights. The complex was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.
Another large park and also part of the European Garden Heritage Network is the Karlsaue along the Fulda River. Established in the 16th century, it is famous for the Orangerie, a palace built in 1710 as a summer residence for the landgraves. Today, the Orangerie contains the Museum of Astronomy and Technology, with a scale model of the Solar System spanning the entire park and beyond. In addition, the Park Schönfeld contains a small, municipal botanical garden, the Botanischer Garten Kassel.
Kassel has seven tram lines (1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), with trams arriving usually every 15 minutes. The city also operates a light rail Stadtbahn network called RegioTram using Regio Citadis low-floor trams which run on both tram and main line railway tracks with four lines (RT3, RT4, RT5, RT9). Moreover, a number of low-floor buses complete the Kassel public transport system. The introduction of low-floor buses led to the development of the Kassel kerb which improves the accessibility at bus stops. The city is connected to the national rail network at two stations, Kassel Central, and Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. The traditional central station (Hauptbahnhof) has been reduced to the status of a regional station since the opening of the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line in 1991 and its station (Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe) on the high-speed line at which the InterCityExpress (ICE) and InterCity services call. Kassel is connected to the motorways A 7, A 49 and A 44. The city is served by Kassel Calden Airport.

The Airbus A320 family consists of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus. The family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, as well as the ACJ business jet. The A320s are also named A320ceo (current engine option) after the introduction of the A320neo (new engine option). Final assembly of the family takes place in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany. A plant in Tianjin, China, has also been producing aircraft for Chinese airlines since 2009, while a final assembly facility in Mobile, Alabama, United States, delivered its first A321 in April 2016. The aircraft family can accommodate up to 236 passengers and has a range of 3,100 to 12,000 km (1,700 to 6,500 nmi), depending on model.
The first member of the A320 family—the A320—was launched in March 1984, first flew on 22 February 1987, and was first delivered in March 1988 to launch customer Air France. The family was extended to include the A321 (first delivered 1994), the A319 (1996), and the A318 (2003). The A320 family pioneered the use of digital fly-by-wire flight control systems, as well as side-stick controls, in commercial aircraft. There has been a continuous improvement process since introduction.
As of 28 February 2018, a total of 8,029 Airbus A320-family aircraft have been delivered, of which 7,679 are in service. In addition, another 6,126 airliners are on firm order. It ranked as the world's fastest-selling jet airliner family according to records from 2005 to 2007, and as the best-selling single-generation aircraft programme. The A320 family has proved popular with airlines including low-cost carriers such as EasyJet, which purchased A319s and A320s to replace its 737 fleet. As of December 2017, American Airlines was the largest operator of the Airbus A320 family aircraft, operating 392 aircraft. The aircraft family competes directly with the 737 and has competed with the 717, 757, and the MD-80/MD-90.

It is located 1.9 km (1.2 mi) west[1] of Calden, 16.7 km (10.4 mi) northwest of Kassel and is mainly used for business and general aviation. There is also a flight school, an ultralight flying school, and a parachuting school based on site. Kassel features one single small passenger terminal building with basic facilities such as car rental desks and some shops. As there are no jet bridges, buses and walk-boarding are in use. The old airport used to have a single asphalt runway, 04/22 (040°/220°), which is 1,500 by 30 m (4,921 by 98 ft). There was a parallel grass strip north of the main runway, which is 700 by 30 m (2,297 by 98 ft). The new runway 09/27 has a length of 8,200 ft (2,500 m) and width of 147 ft (45 m).
The airport features two aprons, one in front of the passenger terminal for two mid-sized aircraft such as the Airbus A320 family and a separate one for general aviation aircraft.

24-hour operation
Although the German air traffic act does not generally prohibit night flights at German airports, only a few are still open at night.
To ensure that Germany is not economically disadvantaged in an international comparison, competitive operating hours like those taken for granted on road and rail are absolutely necessary.
In the federal territory three airports ensure ‘round-the-clock accessibility,’ among them Hanover Airport in the North, as agreed by the five ministers of the North-German states.
This means that for the area Schleswig Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Hamburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony, Hanover Airport is the only commercial airport allowing for 24-hour operation. This is due to its central location and good infrastructure.
Prof. Dr. Lothar Hübl has already prepared several reports which show the enormous importance of the airport for employment in the region.
“Some 8,000 people are employed on the airport premises, and they in turn generate another 8,000 jobs in the region.”
Many internationally active enterprises are deliberately sited at the airport. Apart from that the city and the region even North Germany as a whole profits from it. Night mail for the North-German region is dispatched via Hanover. For the airlines, 24-hour operation means higher turnaround rates for their aircraft. This has positive effects on employment rates and results in many customer beneifts.
“For TUIfly the option of flying at night from Hanover is of key importance. It allows for optimal flight schedules, which enables Hanover to offer a wide range of flights and ultimately also favorable prices for customers. We also have our technical base in Hanover and thus the possibility of technical conveyance flights.”
In his report, Prof. Dr. Hübl was also able to calculate the significant loss of jobs should 24-hour operation came to an end.
“We can roughly summarize this: About 1,000 jobs would be lost on the premises, with approximately the same number being lost in the region. This means that 2,000 workplaces depend on night flight regulation in Hanover.”
In the end, everyone benefits from night flights. But it is also clear that air traffic generates some noise. For this reason, Hanover Airport has already invested over 21 million Euros in noise-reducing technology such as soundproof windows. A new fee table for the airlines intends to increase the incentive for deploying only the most quiet, most modern aircraft.
Also TUIfly is always taking new steps towards making aviation even quieter.
“Of course it is important for us to fly as quietly as possible to limit disturbances. We do this by employing state-of-the-art approach procedures and of course very, very quiet engines.”
In addition to jobs and advantages for travelers, 24-hour operation also allows for many indispensable services, which the whole region benefits from.
We serve as the base for the police helicopter squadron. ‘Christoph Lower Saxony’ is stationed here. We are the only night mail network in Northern Germany. We serve as an alternate airport for North Germany’s QRA aircraft. And as Airgate, we’ve been a small TNT hub for express freight since November 2014. All that wouldn’t be possible if we weren’t open 24 hours a day.”

Mossel Bay (Afrikaans: Mosselbaai) is a harbour town of about 60,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay.
The town's economy relied heavily on farming, fishing and its commercial harbour (the smallest in the Transnet Port Authority's stable of South African commercial harbours), until the 1969 discovery of natural offshore gas fields led to the development of the gas-to-liquids refinery operated by PetroSA. Tourism is another driver of Mossel Bay's economy.

Mossel Bay is a bustling holiday town and port, set on the sunwashed slopes of Cape St Blaize overlooking the expansive bay, against the blueblack backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountains.
Mossel Bay lies halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, close to the towns of Swellendam, Outdshoorn, Plettenberg Bay and Knysna on the Garden Route and is synonymous with the Mossgas project, where offshore gas fields are mined for gas that is then converted into petroleum.
Despite this obvious industrial leaning, Mossel Bay has a tradition of unhurried hospitality and there is sufficient natural beauty in the town and its surrounds to make a stopover essential. Mossel Bay features in the Guiness Book of Records as having the mildest all-year climate in the world, second only to Hawaii. Add to this the long stretch of beaches, the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, a championship golf course or two and Mossel Bay becomes an ideal retreat for both summer and winter.
Mossel Bay has a significant history and there are a number of historic houses worth a visit, including about 200 stone homes built a century ago by Cornish stonemasons. She received her present name in 1601 when the Dutch navigator, Paulus van Caerden found a collection of mussel shells in a cave at the headland of Cape St Blaize although Mossel Bay was ‘discovered’ as far back as 1488, when Dias first encountered the ancient Khoi-San people upon stepping ashore.
