The canton of St. Gallen, also canton of St Gall , is a canton of Switzerland. The capital is St. Gallen. Located in Northeastern Switzerland, the canton has an area of 2,026 km2 and a resident population close to half a million as of 2015 . It was formed in 1803 as a conflation of the city of St. Gallen, the territories of the Abbey of St. Gall and various former subject territories of the Old Swiss Confederacy.

    Rapperswil Castle is a castle, built in the early 13th century AD by the House of Rapperswil in the former independent city of Rapperswil. It is located on the eastern Zürichsee respectively western Obersee lakeshore in Rapperswil, a locality of the municipality Rapperswil-Jona in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Since 1870, the castle has been home to the Polish National Museum established by Polish émigrés, including the castle's lessee and restorer, Count Wladyslaw Broel-Plater. Schloss Rapperswil and the museum are listed in the Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance as Class A objects of national importance.

    The Pizol is a mountain in the Glarus Alps of northeastern Switzerland, overlooking Wangs in the canton of St. Gallen. At 2,844 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit of the chain separating the valleys of the Seez and the Tamina rivers, and the highest mountain lying entirely within the canton of St. Gallen. There are five mountain lakes on Pizol: Wangsersee at Pizolhütte, Wildsee, Schottensee, Schwarzsee and Baschalvasee . A small cirque glacier, the Pizolgletscher, lies above 2,600 metres on the northern side of the mountain. Pizol Hut lies at 2,227 metres .
