Krommenie is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Zaanstad, and lies about 15 km northeast of Haarlem. Krommenie was a separate municipality until 1974, when the new municipality of Zaanstad was created.The statistical district Krommenie, which covers the village and the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 17,410.Krommenie is the first city in the world to have a solar bikepath , a path made of a transparent surface over solar cells to generate electricity fed back to the grid. The path, over 70 meters long, is to test engineering feasibility.

1. Zuiderzee Museum (Zuiderzeemuseum) Enkhuizen
The Zuiderzee Museum, located on Wierdijk in the historic center of Enkhuizen, is a Dutch museum devoted to preserving the cultural heritage and maritime history from the old Zuiderzee region. With the closing of the Afsluitdijk on May 28, 1932, the Zuiderzee was split in two parts: the waters below the Afsluitdijk are now called the IJsselmeer, while the waters north of it are called the Waddenzee.

Zaanse Schans is an outdoor attraction with well-preserved historic windmills and houses, built in the typical Dutch wooden architectural style, relocated from all over the Zaanstreek (area) piece by piece since 1961. They date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The windmills were built after 1574.

The Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam, located just outside Amsterdam, in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is a popular tourist attraction.

Zaans Schans windmills Holland

After an amazing meal of Pannokoeken with salami and cheese on top and Heineken, sister and I go to the bank of the river under the bridge, puff a fat joint and take in the sights . One of the most surreal moments to ever happen to me, right up there with arriving in 'Dam, walking into a coffeeshop, being presented with a giant key ring of about 20 different kinds of weeds in little baggies. After proceeding to smoke ourselves silly, walking along the canals baked off our asses, and realizing im In freakin Amsterdam! Awesome experience, and one of my favorite places ive visited so far. Even if you dont partake in the herb, its still very beautiful, the people are GREAT, tourists are all having fun and the buildings and layout of the city make it easy to traverse.
