La Ronge is a northern town in the boreal forest of central Saskatchewan, Canada. Its location is approximately 250 km north of Prince Albert where Highway 2 becomes Highway 102. La Ronge lies on the western shore of Lac la Ronge, is adjacent to Lac La Ronge Provincial Park, and is on the edge of the Canadian Shield. This town is also the namesake of the larger La Ronge population centre comprising the community, the Northern Village of Air Ronge and the Kitsakie 156B and Lac La Ronge 156 reserves of the Lac La Ronge First Nation.

Lac La Ronge Provincial Park is located in the boreal forest of north central Saskatchewan within the Canadian Shield. The park boundary begins on the western shore of Lac la Ronge at La Ronge and extends north to the Churchill River. Highway 102 forms this western boundary with one exception. 13 km (8 miles} north of the town of La Ronge the park goes further west to include a section of Nemeiben Lake.The northern section of the park follows the Churchill River until it goes south to include the eastern shore of Lac la Ronge. Just north of Wapawekka Lake on the eastern shore the park ends.

Candle Lake is a body of water in central Saskatchewan, approximately 65 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. It is also the name of a resort village along the Eastern shore of the lake, and of Candle Lake Provincial Park which encompasses much of the surrounding area. Candle Lake is a popular tourist destination in Western Canada and is located in the boreal forest biome. In addition to natural sand beaches, the lake contains a number of sport fish species including northern pike, walleye, yellow perch, burbot, lake whitefish, white sucker, longnose sucker and shorthead redhorse. Their travels have seen them at many Canadian locations, including Alberta's Banff National Park and Peter Lougheed Provincail Park, Ontario’s Algonquin Park, Yukon’s Ivvavik National Park, Saskatchewan's Prince Albert National Park, Emma Lake, La Ronge and Cypress Hills.

Brightest Northern Lights in Saskatchewan

While I was time lapsing these gorgeous Northern Lights last night, they got so bright that I was able to record them without long exposure to show how fast they were moving! My wife was driving and was about 2 hours away, and she was seeing the same thing so we were talking on the phone and enjoying the same light show from 2 different places! You can hear our excitement since this is the first time we've seen them so vibrant with the naked eye. Such is the beauty of this world!
