PAGO Clarion River
The PA Great Outdoors region is a big, beautiful part of Pennsylvania and home to the nationally designated Wild & Scenic Clarion River. This beautiful river meanders over 100 miles through narrow valleys and densely forested mountain slopes. Its headwaters begin as clear, cold mountain streams and enter the PA Great Outdoors region in Elk County and flow through one of the top 50 state parks in America, Cook Forest. On to Clarion and ultimately to join the Allegheny River near Foxburg. Bring your camera as river otters, eagles, wild turkey, and black bear are often seen along its banks. The Clarion's intermittent ripples and rocky outcrops provide a picturesque backdrop for outdoor adventure including kayaking, canoeing, tubing, swimming, fishing and photography. The northern Clarion offers exceptional trophy brown trout fishing. Many adjacent public lands provide abundant opportunities for camping, hunting, cycling and picnicking. Come experience the Wild & Scenic Clarion River! Plan your trip to the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors! VisitPAGO.com
Everett Railroad #11: Return To Steam
In mid-October of 2015, the Everett Railroad, in Hollidaysburg, PA, returned 2-6-0 #11 to active service after a long restoration. On this particular day, this mighty Mogul was pulling three-car Pumpkin Patch Trains, from the new station in Hollidaysburg to Brookes Mills and return, with a stopover at a trackside pumpkin patch, where kids could feel free to pick their own pumpkins before the train returned to the station.
The engine performed magnificently in what was her second day of revenue passenger service - and we catch the train in quite a few of the scenic locations along the route. Enjoy this look at Everett Railroad #11: Return to Steam!
