The Wachau, is a valley with a picturesque landscape formed by the Danube river. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations of Lower Austria, located midway between the towns of Melk and Krems. It is 40 kilometers in length and was already settled in prehistoric times. The architectural elegance of its ancient monasteries, castles and ruins, combined with the urban architecture of towns and villages, and the cultivation of vines, are the dominant features of the valley. The Wachau was inscribed as Wachau Cultural Landscape.

Kremsmünster Abbey (German: Stift Kremsmünster) is a Benedictine monastery in Kremsmünster in Upper Austria. The monastery was founded in 777 by Tassilo III, Duke of Bavaria. According to the foundation legend, Tassilo founded the monastery on the site where his son, Gunther, had been attacked and killed by a wild boar during a hunting trip.

Schloss Artstetten blickt auf eine wechselvolle Geschichte zurück. Es diente als Familiensitz und Sommerresidenz der kaiserlichen Familie und wurde zur letzten Ruhestätte für Thronfolger Erzherzog Franz Ferdinand und seine Gemahlin, Sophie Herzogin von Hohenberg, die beide 1914 in Sarajevo einem fanatisierten Jugendlichen zum Opfer fielen.
Der architektonisch reizvolle Bau, der urkundlich erstmals im 13. Jahrhundert erwähnt wird, wurde im Laufe der Jahrhunderte mehrfach umgestaltet, bis er seine heutige endgültige Form fand: ein quadratischer Mittelbau flankiert von sieben charakteristischen Türmen.
Seit 1982 befindet sich im Schloss das Erzherzog-Franz-Ferdinand-Museum, das in der permanenten Ausstellung Für Herz & Krone dem Besucher Einblick in das Leben des Thronfolgers und seiner Familie gewährt. In einem jährlich wechselnden Sonderthema wird jeweils ein Schwerpunkt seines facettenreichen Lebens aufgegriffen und dem Besucher präsentiert.

SHERATON-HOTEL Fuerteventura: not a Luxury Hotel; critical REVIEW

Fuerteventura, Sheraton Golf und Spa Resort - not a five Star Resort any more ! An aged, too-large hotel complex that is shabby and has lost at least more than two of its five stars!
If one assumes, it is possible to have Golf vacation in February with Antlantik weather, also on the Canary Islands. Also on Fuerteventura, which is known to be very windy. (That on this island the wind may be as strong, as it was, that is an experience). In a beautiful hotel, a real Golf and Spa that should be very nice - as often experienced. This Sheraton had missed everything, what a five star hotel must have. The term Golf and Spa Resort was abused here; too expensive without adequate performance. (See: Marbella Cala Mijas Golf Resort or Castillo son Vida). This Film is just a review.

Ein in die Jahre gekommener zu großer Hotel Komplex, der abgewohnt ist und damit mindestens zwei von seinen fünf Sternen verloren hat! Wenn man von der Annahme ausgeht, dass man im Februar bei atlantischem Wetter, auch auf den kanarischen Inseln Golf spielen kann. Auch auf Fuerteventura, das ja bekanntlich sehr windig ist. (Dass auf dieser Insel der Wind so stark sein kann, war ein Erlebnis). Bei einem schönen Hotel, einem echten Golf und Spa hatte das auch sehr schön sein sollen - wie eben schon öfter erlebt. Dieses Sheraton hatte allerdings alles vermissen lassen was ein Fünf Sterne Hotel haben muss. Der Begriff Golf und Spa Resort wurde hier missbraucht; zu teuer ohne entsprechende Leistung. Puerto del ROSARIO is the port and capital of Fuerteventura, one of Spain's Canary Islands. Spain Province of Las Palmas, with more than 2.5 million inhabitants. Calle Leon y Castillo, with its commercial area, extends from the harbor into the city. Shopping arcades and small Shops alternate with small parks and squares. In the middle of the main square is the Iglesia Nuestra Senora del Rosario: built from 1800 to 1900 in the Neoclassical style. This city originated at least in the 18th century, after the Atlantic was freed along the African coast by the pirates and here in the east of the Island a landing was easy. (The west of the coast is mainly on a cliff with a very heavy surf) .-
Since 1860, until this time Puerto de Cabras, (today's Puerto del Rosario) is the capital of the island .English merchants provided for the first prosperity of the city. It began trading with lime made on the island. Fuel was in short, so English coal was imported. Further trade was made with the Cochinese louse bred on the island (on the Oputien = cacti). She gave the coveted red dye carmine. With the new commercial port, Puerto de Cabras (Goat Harbor) the town became quickly the largest town of the island. In 1924 the Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno was banished to Puerto de Cabra. He was banished by the dictator Primo de Rivera - because of his criticism of the monarchy and the corrupt, oligarchic system - he was relieved of all of his offices as vice-rector and decan. He has now his own museum here.
From 2001, a sculptor symposium took place once a year for 10 years. Many sculptures remained in the city, much of them adorns the harbor promenade. The importance of the city, which currently has 30,000 inhabitants, is the administration, the port (Schengen port) and the airport (tourism).

Puerto del Rosario ist Hafenstadt und Hauptstadt von Fuerteventura, der zweitgrößten zu Spanien gehörenden Kanarischen Inseln, der Provinz Las Palmas mit mehr als 2,5 Mio EW. Die Geschäftsmeile Calle Leon y Castillo erstreckt sich vom Hafen in die Stadt hinein. Einkaufspassagen und kleine Läden wechseln sich ab, mit kleinen Parkanlagen und Plätzen. Am Hauptplatz ist die Iglesia Nuestra Senora del Rosario: gebaut 1800 bis 1900 im Neoklassizistischem Stil. Diese Stadt entstand erst im 18. JH., nachdem der Atlantik entlang der Afrikanischen Küste von den Seeräubern befreit war und hier im Osten der Insel eine Anlandung einfach war. (Der Westen der Küste besteht hauptsächlich aus einer Steilküste mit einer sehr heftigen Brandung).- Seit 1860 ist das damalige Puerto de Cabras (das heutige Puerto del Rosario) Inselhauptstadt.
Englische Kaufleute sorgten für ersten Wohlstand der Stadt. Es begann der Handel mit auf der Insel gebranntem Kalk. Brennmaterial war knapp, so wurde englische Steinkohle importiert. Weiterer Handel wurde mit der auf der Insel gezüchteten Cochenille-Laus (auf den Oputien = Kakteen) gemacht. Sie gab den begehrten roten Farbstoff Karmin. Mit dem neuen Handelshafen wurde Puerto de Cabras (Ziegenhafen) schnell zum größten Ort der Insel. 1924 wurde der spanische Schriftsteller Miguel de Unamuno, nach Puerto de Cabra verbannt. Er wurde von Diktator Primo de Rivera - wegen Kritik an der Monarchie und am korrupten, oligarchischen System - aller seiner Ämter als Vizerektor und Dekan enthoben und auf die Kanareninsel Fuerteventura verbannt. Er hat hier ein eigenes Museum.
Ab 2001 fand 10 Jahre ein Mal jährlich ein Bildhauer Symposium statt. Viele blieben der Stadt erhalten , wobei ein Großteil die Hafenpromenade schmückt. Die Bedeutung der heute 30000 EW zählenden Stadt ist die Verwaltung, Der Hafen (Schengenhafen) und der Flughafen (Tourismus).-
