Forestburg is a village located in east-central Alberta, Canada. The rich farmland of the area was first settled in 1905. Soon after the first of many gopher hole mines, homesteaders were soon coal mining on the banks of the Battle River in 1907. The site was surveyed in 1919 after the Canadian Northern Railway arrived in 1916, and Forestburg was incorporated into a village. Today Forestburg's economy is based on agriculture, coal mining, oil and gas activity, and power generation. With approximately 75 businesses, the rate of employment is good. Horsethief Canyon is found 16 kilometres northwest of the town of Drumheller, in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is on the east bank of the Red Deer River, along Highway 838 . Both Horsethief Canyon and Horseshoe Canyon are distinctive features of the surrounding badlands of central Alberta. Although the two canyons look similar, they are separated by several kilometres and were created by different tributaries of the Red Deer River. The name Horsethief was given to this area because of an illegal horse trade network used in the last century. Horses being smuggled illegally between the United States and Alberta were supposedly hidden in this canyon, but the true origin of the name is not clear.

The Bleriot Ferry is a cable ferry in Alberta, Canada. It links the two sections of the North Dinosaur Trail as it crosses the Red Deer River from Kneehill County on the west, to Starland County on the east. It was built by Andre Bleriot commissioned in 1913 and, in addition to providing an essential transport service, acted as a major social hub in the Drumheller area.The ferry operates from late April to November.

Big Knife Provincial Park Campground - Alberta Camping Review

Big Knife Provincial Park is a provincial park in central Alberta, Canada. It was established in 1962 on the Battle River, at the confluence with the Big Knife Creek and is located on highway 855, 10 km south of highway 53, 88 km from the city of Camrose.

Activities in the park are water related and include canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and power boating. Bird-watching, hiking and camping at the Big Knife Campground are also popular. The park is open during the summer (from May to September), with limited access during the winter months.

July 18 2011 chase: Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Millet Alberta

We set out to chase early in the day betting on eastern Alberta but ended up going back west to check out a weak cell coming from the foothills, as we got close it exploded from modest high based thunderstorm to a monster supercell after passing pigeon lake. By the time we got to it were were trying to stay ahead of the hailcore until we used highway 21 to get south and around to the back of the storm. by the time the storm passed #21 it cycled(weaken and reorganize) so we decided to instead check out a new system farther west. We stopped in Wetaskiwin and took a little too long to get moving so we stuck around and filed the hurricane and the damage it caused. The storms then speed up and we used the rest of the day to see the damage including Millet, checked on my dads house(the tree in the back blew over) and headed east and found the worst hit area. Trees were stripped bare and hail fog was thick in places, Siding and windows facing the wind were severely damaged and crops were turned to mulch, the bright green ground seen at the end of the video used to be a healthy waist high Canola crop. Tall grass, crops, and weeds were scoured bare. though damage was very severe it was linear(in one direction) thus not cause by a tornado. The wind damage is likely the work of several microbursts packing more than 160km/h winds

On of many severe storms in Alberta, more south than the storms the day before.
