Amazing Mountain Scenery Winter Drive Canadian Rockies (Banff, Alberta to Hope, British Columbia)
January 2019 drive
The Canadian Rockies mountain range spans the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. With jagged, ice-capped peaks, including towering Mt. Robson, it's a region of alpine lakes, diverse wildlife and outdoor recreation sites.
But as scenic and magical as it is, driving through the Canadian Rockies is no easy feat! With towns few and far between and the possibility of snow, rock slides, fires and wildlife crossing the road, there’s a lot to be on the look out for.
In the winter, avalanche patrol regularly sets off controlled avalanches in the area. Avalanche season runs from Oct. 1 until May 31. Winter tires are required from either the first snowfall of the season or mid-October through until mid-May.
Coquihalla Pass is found along at the end of the Coquihalla Highway between Kamloops and Hope, BC. You will likely take this pass if you’re driving from BC into Edmonton, Alta. or Northern Alberta. This is the safest highway to use between the two mountain towns. It has multiple lanes of traffic, compared to the narrow and single-laned Trans-Canada highway. It’s also roughly an hour faster than the Trans-Canada highway.

Big Valley Jamboree Small Town Saturday Night - LEGAL
Thanks to absolutely overwhelming support from people all across Alberta, Legal will be hosting the first ever Big Valley Jamboree Small Town Saturday Night presented by Travel Alberta. Starting at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 28, 2012, everybody who comes to our town is going to have an absolutely unforgettable day! Canadian country artist Dean Brody will be headlining, with a Songwriter's Circle featuring Aaron Lines, Samantha King, Duane Steele, Shane Chisholm, and Tim Hus. The night will be hosted by Danny Hooper and capped off with a spectacular fireworks show when things are over.
The event is now sold out. If you're one of the lucky ones with tickets, we look forward to seeing you here!
We'd like to give an incredibly heartfelt thanks to all of you out there who enjoy the video we put together, and especially those who voted for us day after day during the competition. We definitely weren't the biggest community in the competition (far from it - only two of the 10 communities were smaller than us), nor the most well-known when it all started, but it was incredibly encouraging to see that it didn't seem to make a difference at all. There are an incredible number of people out there who might not have heard of Legal before (or at least not known how to pronounce it :-) but now know what a proud, vibrant, and dynamic community we are.
Now, come and see us in person! On April 28th, we'll be hosting the Small Town Saturday Night, and we hope to see everyone here then!

The Town of Legal is excited to see so much of our community rally behind the possibility of our hosting Big Valley Jamboree Small Town Saturday Night! In this, our entry video for the competition, you'll see just a small sample of some of the people who make our community great! You can imagine the fun we've had putting this together!
There's a lot going on this video, just like there's always a lot going on in our town. We're eager, excited, and hopeful to see as many of you as possible in person, whether on Saturday, April 28th (the date of the event) or any other day!
