Bon Accord is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 40 km north of downtown Edmonton on Highway 28. The name is derived from Bon Accord, the ancient motto of Aberdeen, Scotland, the ancestral home of a first settler.The International Dark-Sky Association designated Bon Accord an International Dark Sky Community in August 2015 in recognition of the town's implementation of initiatives to preserve and enhance dark night skies over the community. It was the first community in Canada and eleventh in the world to earn this designation.

It is 19.2 kilometres long and 6.6 kilometres narrow, covers 82 square kilometres and is 11 metres deep at its deepest, with somewhat clear water.Its name derives from the Cree word for mirror. Wabamun was reputedly the best whitefish lake in the Edmonton area and is well known for its large northern pike. A large variety of migrating, breeding and moulting wildfowl visit the lake.
