The Mayerthorpe tragedy occurred on March 3, 2005 on the farm of James Roszko, approximately 11 km north of Rochfort Bridge near the town of Mayerthorpe in the Canadian province of Alberta. Wabamun Lake is one of the most heavily used lakes in Alberta, Canada. It lies 65 kilometres west of Edmonton, Alberta. It is 19.2 kilometres long and 6.6 kilometres narrow, covers 82 square kilometres and is 11 metres deep at its deepest, with somewhat clear water.Its name derives from the Cree word for mirror. Wabamun was reputedly the best whitefish lake in the Edmonton area and is well known for its large northern pike. A large variety of migrating, breeding and moulting wildfowl visit the lake. Beaver and muskrat use the lake while the surrounding upland supports coyotes, porcupine, moose and white-tailed deer. There are also reported sightings of cougars and wolves and bears. Vulcan, Alberta, Canada

Day 25 6-24-16 We arrive in the little town of Vulcan, Alberta, which is set up to look like Star Trek. Unfortunately, we arrive about 6 PM so most things were closed.

We took pictures of the things outside and then went on to Okotoks to camp for the night.
