In 2013, the Brazilian news channel, Globo (the CNN of Brazil) ran a series featuring what they believed to be the best small cities in all of Brazil to raise a family. They considered safety, lifestyle, education, health care and more. The first city the featured was São Pedro de Alcântara.

10_ Ouro Preto: One of Brazil's best-preserved colonial towns, Ouro Preto, meaning black gold, was founded at the end of the 17th century. It quickly became the epicenter of a new gold rush in the state of Minas Gerais. The city contains well preserved Portuguese colonial architecture, while modern buildings must adhere to historical standards maintained by the city. 18th- and 19th-century churches decorated with gold and the sculptured works of Aleijadinho make Ouro Preto one of the most popular tourist attractions in Brazil.
9_ Teatro Amazonas: or Amazon Theatre is an opera house located in Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. It was built during the heyday of rubber trade using materials from all over the world, with furniture from Paris, marble from Italy, and steel from England. On the outside of the building, the dome was covered with 36,000 decorated ceramic tiles painted in the colors of the Brazilian national flag.
8_ Fernando de Noronha: is a beautiful archipelago with pristine beaches, landscapes and wildlife, situated 354 km (220 miles) off the northeastern coast in Brazil. The archipelago was discovered by Amerigo Vespucci in 1503 and temporarily occupied by the Dutch and French before Portugal established dominion in 1737. Today only the largest of the 21 islands is inhabited with a population of about 3,500. The islands are a Mecca for divers and snorkelers with warm waters year-round and very good visibility even at depths of 50 meters.
7_ Historic Center of Olinda: Another well preserved colonial city, Olinda is located on the Brazil's northeastern coast, just north of Recife. Olinda features a number of major touristic attractions, such as a historic downtown area, churches, and the famous Carnival of Olinda. Many bars, restaurants, artist and craftspeople studios add charm to the old-town setting.
6_ Salvador Beaches: is the capital of the state of Bahia, with an attractive colonial town, a vibrant musical scene and loads of exceptional beaches all around. The beaches range from calm inlets, ideal for swimming, diving and sailing, as well as open sea inlets with strong waves, popular with surfers. There are also beaches surrounded by reefs, forming natural pools of stone, ideal for children.
5_ Pantanal: is the world's largest wetland, lying mostly in Western Brazil but extending into Bolivia and Paraguay as well. Famous for its wildlife, it is one of Brazil's major tourist attractions. Unlike the Amazon rainforest, in the Pantanal you are virtually guaranteed to actually see the wildlife. Capybara and the Yacare Caiman are present in the millions. The Pantanal is also home to one of the largest Jaguar populations in the Americas.
4_ Rio Carnival: There are carnival celebrations in virtually every corner of Brazil, the best-known ones taking place in Recife together with the neighboring Olinda and Salvador. But the biggest and most famous carnival is undoubtedly the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The Rio Carnival attracts two million people per day on the streets and almost half a million foreigners during its 4 day celebration. The Carnival is all over the place, in the streets and squares, bars, clubs and all other venues in Rio, concluding in the spectacular Rio Samba Parade at the Sambadrome.
3_ Amazon River: At approximately 6,400 km (4,000 miles) the Amazon River is the second longest river in the world, just slightly shorter than the Nile, and the largest river by volume. The Amazon has over 3,000 recognized species of fish and new species are still being discovered. The Amazon Basin is covered by half of the planet's remaining rainforests. Although a tenth of the world's estimated 10 million living species live in the Amazon rainforest, jungle tours are more about the boating upriver into the damp, buzzing, oppressive ambience than actually spotting animals.
2_ Iguazu Falls: One of the great natural wonders of the world, Iguaçu Falls is situated on the border between Brazil and Argentina. The waterfall system consists of 275 falls along the Iguazu River. The most impressive of them all is the Devil's Throat a U-shaped with a height of 82 meter (269 ft). The falls can be reached from the cities Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil and Puerto Iguazú in Argentina, as well as from Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. On the Brazilian side there is a long walkway along the canyon with an extension to the lower base of the Devil's Throat.
1_ Christ the Redeemer: Christ the Redeemer is the famous statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro. Located at the peak of the 700 meters (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain, it provides a sweeping panorama from the interior of Guanabara bay to the north, to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas to the south. The Christ the Redeemer statue stands 39.6 meters (130 ft) tall, including its 9.5 meters (31 ft) pedestal and has become an icon of Rio and Brazil.

Petrópolis is a Brazilian city north of Rio de Janeiro. Bordering the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, with its forested peaks and waterfalls, it’s known as a mountain retreat for Rio residents. In the center, the Imperial Museum displays period furnishings in the former palace of 19th-century emperor Dom Pedro II. Nearby, the huge São Pedro de Alcântara Cathedral houses the mausoleum of the emperor and his wife.Other heritage buildings in the city center include the ornate Palácio Rio Negro. Built by a wealthy coffee producer in the late 19th century, it has served as the summer home of several Brazilian presidents. Nearby, the elegant, iron-framed glass Palácio de Cristal offers a program of cultural events. The Casa de Santos Dumont documents the history of aviation. To the northeast, the Casa da Ipiranga cultural center hosts concerts and exhibitions in a grand 19th-century mansion surrounded by landscaped gardens.

Petrópolis is a year-round destination with a warm, temperate climate. Rainfall can be heavy Nov–Mar. The city’s high altitude makes it cooler than nearby Rio de Janeiro, so it’s a popular retreat during the summer months of Dec–Jan. Every year, the long-running Bauernfest (Jun/Jul) celebrates German culture in Brazil with street theater, music and food stalls.

Our first stop of the day was Sao Jorge Castle, which is an old Moorish fortification that sits on a hill overlooking Lisbon and the Tagus River. You can get some nice panoramic views of the city from here, and they also have peacocks roaming the grounds.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol is one of the many look out points in Lisbon that offers postcard-perfect views of the city. This particular terrace overlooks the Alfama district and it is always popular with tourists.
Carmo is a mediaeval convent that was ruined during the 1755 earthquake, and today it is used as an archaeological museum. It's a strange feeling walking down the ruined nave of the church and seeing blue skies above your head, but that's exactly what makes it worth a visit.
Another place to visit is Belem Tower. The tower was built on the banks of the Tagus River, and it was meant to act as both a defense system and a ceremonial gateway into Lisbon.
The Jeronimos Monastery is one of the most visited sights in Lisbon. It's one of the best examples of Late Gothic Manueline architecture, so have a close look at the intricate detailing when you visit.
A fun way to get around Lisbon's hilly streets is by riding the trams. There are different lines across the city, but #28 is the most popular one with visitors.
The Santa Justa lift is an elevator that connects the lower streets of Baixa with Carmo Square, and it is the only remaining vertical elevator in Lisbon. Though it is meant to serve a functional role, it is also quite popular with visitors who find the elevator a novel idea.

Petrópolis é um município localizado no interior do estado do Rio de Janeiro, no Brasil, também conhecido como Cidade Imperial. Ocupa uma área de 795,798 km², sua população no ano de 2017 era de 298 235 habitantes segundo a estimativa do IBGE. Além de ser a maior e mais populosa cidade da Região Serrana Fluminense, também detém o maior PIB e IDH da região. O gentílico municipal de Petrópolis é petropolitano.
Petrópolis é a cidade mais segura do estado do Rio de Janeiro e a sexta cidade mais segura do Brasil, segundo classificação do IPEA para cidades de médio e grande portes. Petrópolis é a sede do Laboratório Nacional de Computação Científica, uma unidade de pesquisa do Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação.
O clima ameno, as construções históricas e a vegetação abundante são grandes atrativos turísticos. Além disso, a cidade possui um movimentado comércio e serviços, além de produção agropecuária (com destaque para a fruticultura) e indústria. Fundada por iniciativa do Imperador Dom Pedro II (seu nome vem da junção da palavra em latim Petrus (Pedro) com a em grego Pólis (cidade), ficando Cidade de Pedro). É frequentemente chamada de Cidade Imperial, por ter sido a rota preferida de Dom Pedro para seus momentos de lazer e repouso. Foi capital estadual temporariamente entre 1894 e 1902, devido à Revolta da Armada. Existem projetos para anexar Petrópolis novamente à Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro, por estar unida à capital por laços políticos e econômicos, e conter um dos maiores IDH's do estado.
A alta temporada do turismo em Petrópolis se inicia em junho, com a realização da Bauernfest e o início do inverno, que atrai turistas para a cidade pelo clima tipicamente frio. Em 2014, algumas atrações registraram alta de mais de 30% em relação ao mesmo período de 2013, devido à Copa do Mundo FIFA Brasil 2014.
Ela é a cidade da região serrana fluminense que recebe mais turistas por ano. Petrópolis também foi a não capital que mais progrediu no Índice de Competitividade do Turismo Nacional em 2014, elaborado pelo Ministério do Turismo. Segundo os elaboradores, a cidade está entre as 15 mais bem colocadas do Brasil no ranking geral de competitividade no turismo.
A cidade possui um conjunto arquitetônico sem igual, como o Palácio Quitandinha, a Academia Petropolitana de Letras, o Museu Casa de Santos Dumont, o Museu Imperial de Petrópolis, o Teatro D. Pedro, o Museu Casa do Colono e a Catedral de São Pedro de Alcântara. O palácio é a principal construção do chamado centro histórico, onde se destaca a Avenida Koeler, ladeada por casarões e palacetes do século XIX. A via é perpendicular à fachada da Catedral de São Pedro de Alcântara e, no outro sentido, à Praça Ruy Barbosa e à fachada da Universidade Católica - constituindo-se em um dos mais belos cenários da cidade.
No chamado centro histórico, encontram-se, também, construções como a Encantada (casa de verão de Santos Dumont); o Palácio de Cristal; o Palácio Amarelo (Câmara de Vereadores); o Palácio Rio Negro, fronteiriço à sede da prefeitura (Palácio Sérgio Fadel) e construções curiosas, como o castelinho do autodenominado Duque de Belfort, na esquina da Koeler com a Praça Ruy Barbosa, ou ainda a antiga casa da família Rocha Miranda, na Avenida Ipiranga - mesmo endereço de outra residência da mesma família, em estilo sessentista. Linhas modernas também estão presentes na casa de Lúcio Costa, no bairro de Samambaia.
Petrópolis tem grande tradição como cidade imperial. Por isso, hoje possui um dos museus de história mais importantes do Brasil, o Museu Imperial. Construído entre 1845 e 1862, como Palácio de Dom Pedro II, possui acervo constituído por peças ligadas à monarquia brasileira, incluindo mobiliário, documentos, obras de arte e objetos pessoais de integrantes da família real. O Palácio virou museu em 1943 por decreto do então presidente Getúlio Vargas. Além dele a cidade possui o Museu de Cera de Petrópolis, Museu Casa Santos Dumont, Museu Casa do Colono, Casa da Princesa Isabel e Palácio Rio Negro, todos localizados no centro da cidade.
Com mais de 321 mil visitantes, o Museu Imperial, em Petrópolis, foi o museu mais visitado do Brasil em 2016, segundo dados do Instituto Brasileiro de Museus (Ibram), do Ministério da Cultura.

Uma das belas catedrais góticas do mundo, bem aqui pertinho e você nem sabia.
Olá,você que tá assistindo, seja muito bem vindo a bordo do VOU DE DRONE.
Eu sou o Renato Freitas, e pro vídeo de hoje eu decolo de Petrópolis, região serrana do Rio de Janeiro para mostrar e contar a história da Catedral de São Pedro de Alcântara. Uma construção que levou mais de um século para sua finalização.
Com beleza tão grande que encanta até mesmo os menos religiosos, a Catedral de São Pedro de Alcântara é dedicada ao santo de mesmo nome, considerado pelos católicos, padroeiro da cidade e da Monarquia Brasileira.
Originalmente, a Catedral de Petrópolis, como também é conhecida, era um modesto edifício localizado em frente ao Palácio Imperial, mas a construção de uma nova Matriz já estava prevista, no lugar atual, no plano de urbanização de Petrópolis, datado de 1843.
Na década de 1870, volta-se a considerar a construção da nova igreja graças ao interesse de D. Pedro II e sua filha, a Princesa Isabel.
O atual edifício da catedral começou a ser construído apenas em 1884.
O projeto foi encomendado ao engenheiro e arquiteto baiano Francisco Caminhoá, que concebeu um edifício em estilo neogótico, muito em voga na época, inspirado especialmente nas antigas catedrais do norte da França.
Finalmente, em 29 de novembro de 1925, é inaugurada a nova matriz de Petrópolis, depois de aproximados 40 anos de trabalho.
O edifício, porém, não estava terminado, faltando a fachada principal, a torre e muito da decoração interna.
As obras da fachada só começaram em 1929 e chegaram até o nível da rosácea na década de 1930. A torre só seria construída entre 1960 e 1969.
Numa linha reta, de frente para a fachada da catedral, a menos de 1km de distância, fica a casa de Santos Dumont, onde também voei o link para o vídeo está aí embaixo, vale a pena assistí-lo também.
A fachada principal da igreja tem um portal com múltiplas arquivoltas em forma de arcos apontados e as portas principais pesam mais de 2 toneladas, cada. Vejam só.
A torre, o elemento mais recente da igreja, pode ser vista de quase toda parte central da cidade, se eleva a 70 metros do solo e contém um carrilhão de cinco sinos de bronze fundidos na Alemanha, pesando nove toneladas.
O interior da igreja abriga o maior órgão de tubos da América Latina. São 2.227 tubos, 33 registros e três teclados manuais. Foi fabricado no Rio de Janeiro e instalado em 1937
