Thomas William Cochrane is a Canadian musician known as the front man for the Canadian rock band Red Rider, and for his work as a solo singer-songwriter. Cochrane has won eight Juno Awards. He is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, an officer of the Order of Canada, and has an honorary doctorate from Brandon University. In September 2009 he was inducted onto the Canadian Walk of Fame. Cochrane has also been recognized for his significant charitable work.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is a provincial park in the Calgary Region of Alberta, Canada. The majority of the park is located on the north bank of the Bow River within Rocky View County. Big Hill Springs Provincial Park is a provincial park in Alberta, Canada. It is located 10 km north of Cochrane, 6 km from Highway 22 on Highway 567, in Rocky View County. Big Hill Springs is located northwest of Calgary, Alberta at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The main attraction is a series of small waterfalls that flow year-round over rocky terraces covered with a lush growth of shrubs and grasses; the park is also the site of an historic fish hatchery and Alberta's first commercial creamery.

Cochrane Lake is a hamlet in southern Alberta under the jurisdiction of Rocky View County. Statistics Canada also recognizes a smaller portion of the hamlet as a designated place under the name of Cochrane Lake Subdivision.Cochrane Lake is located approximately 45 km northwest of the City of Calgary and 1.6 km north of the Town of Cochrane on the west side of Highway 22. Cochrane Lake gets its name from Senator Matthew Henry Cochrane who in 1881 founded the Cochrane Ranche which was a major producer of beef. Cochrane Lake is also currently the site of a housing development, managed by property developer Monterra.

Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6,183 feet . The lake has a surface area of 50 hectares . The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinctive shade of blue. The colour is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.

Kettle Lakes Provincial Park is a provincial park in north-eastern Ontario, about 30 kilometres east of Timmins. It is administered by Ontario Parks, which classifies it as a recreation park. The landscape of the park is the legacy of the retreat of an enormous glacier at the end of the last Ice Age, approximately 12,000 years ago. After the glacier retreated, half-buried icebergs melted to form small, deep lakes referred to by earth scientists as kettle lakes. Twenty of the 22 lakes in Kettle Lakes Provincial Park are kettles. As any Law and Order addict knows, there are two groups that protect and represent the people, “the police who investigate crimes, and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.” These are not their stories, however.
Instead, we’re here to focus on the nastier side of that story, namely, the cities where these crimes occur. Violent crime rates are a huge factor when determining where you want to move or visit, and understandably so. Washington D.C., Chicago and Detroit years had to fight against their public image as some of the most violent and crime-ridden areas in the United States, with notable improvements in several areas.
As the say, the first step in solving a problem is admitting you have one, so let this serve less as a list for public province shaming as a rehabilitative one.
That being said, let’s dive in and take a look at “the most violent cities in Canada,” according to the crime severity index.
Edmonton: Edmonton has been seeing some tough times as of late—and we’re not just talking about the Oilers. (Really, how many first round draft picks are they going to get?) Unfortunately, Edmonton’s crime rate is about as stagnant as their hockey team. The city has had a persistent problem with violent crime, especially sex-based crimes such as sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, and sexual violations against children. That being said, Edmonton’s overall crime index rating is “only” 89.7—far lower than the others on this list.
Regina: Regina, ranks rather highly (or lowly, depending on how you look at it) when it comes to overall violent crime in Canada. It’s been trading places with Saskatoon the past few years, checking in with a 105.8 crime index rating. On the one hand, that’s definitely far too high, and hurts what is otherwise one of the more underrated settlement destinations in Canada. On the other hand, however, as Regina ranks just below Saskatoon this year, the latter’s loss is the former’s gain, as it can now report a “drop” in crime, at least in that context. Let’s hope that continues into the future, rather than the rumours of potential spikes that have been reported in the last year.
Saskatoon: Saskatoon’s placement on this list is something of a good news/bad news situation…let’s get the latter out of the way first, so we can end this section on a good note. To begin with, yes, with a violent crime index rating of 109.9. The city has flipped back and forth with Regina (see above) in the overall rankings, and has sometimes even found itself at the ignominious “top” of the standings. In the NHL, that wins you the Presidents’ Trophy. In the war on crime, that wins you an incredible amount of scrutiny. Thankfully, however, there are signs that Saskatoon is trying hard indeed to improve its record and reputation. In 2013, the mayor announced that overall violent crime in Saskatoon had dropped 9%, and there are hopes that that trend can continue.

The centre’s state of the art Studio Bell opened
July 2016, and tells the story of Canada’s music heritage.
As the East Village rejuvenates, this building and museum lies at its restored heart.
Start at the Studio Bell concert hall and with us as your guides
Wind your way up the levels, featuring items from
Music legends, playable instruments and interpretive exhibits.

Don’t miss a performance of the 1924 Kimball Theatre Organ.
Today, it’s one of 10 remaining in Canada, and it reflects
Back when organ players were like one person orchestras for silent films.
When visiting the National Music Centre, we especially
Liked a temporary exhibit on the great k.d lang, particularly
Due to the vast selection of her costumes the centre had on display.
Other exhibits featured Tom Cochrane, and a myriad of
His awards, and the piano Sarah McLachlan used at Lilith Fair,
A famed festival for female performers in the late 1990s.

Some of these exhibits are now closed, but this only means
They will be replaced by something different, proving the
Museum has the opportunity to grow and change with the music.
For Calgarians, the centre acts as a community staple,

A venue for up and coming concerts and events,
As well as a national institution to celebrate music
As it continues through the decades.
We’re sure to return for the performance schedule,
And for future exhibits as they showcase the songs that
Bind us together, change our views on the world
And tell us what it means to be alive.
When visiting, the National Music Centre is a must

Visit destination into the musical traditions that make
Canadians proud, but also those that help shape the entire country’s culture.

I explore the Historic Cochrane Ranche Site located in the town of Cochrane in today's new video! My friend Jesse joins me as we wander through the forested trails of the park. Jesse reminisces about his time spent in the park as a student as we make our way up to the statue of a man on a horse. From that vantage point we can see tons of smoke coming from the Rocky Mountains, specifically the Verdant Creek Wildfire near Banff National Park.

06. Dundonald Park
An urban park. Occupies a city block, with Somerset Street West to the north, Bay Street to the west, MacLaren Street to the south, and Lyon Street to the east. Was named after Douglas Cochrane, 12th Earl of Dundonald, who was the last British officer to command the Canadian militia.

07. Rideau Falls
Two waterfalls located where the Rideau River empties into the Ottawa River. The falls are divided by Green Island, with the Old City Hall just to the south. Were named by the early French for their resemblance to a curtain.

08. Chaudière Falls
A set of cascades and waterfall in the centre of the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area where the Ottawa River narrows between a rocky escarpment on both sides of the river. About 60 metres (200 ft) wide and drop 15 metres (49 ft).

09. Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica
A Minor basilica. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990. Originally home to the small wooden St. Jacques Church built in 1832.

10. Calypso Park
A theme waterpark located in Limoges. Opened to the public on June 7, 2010. Is on a 450 acres (1.8 km2; 0.70 sq mi) site. Canada’s largest waterpark. Calypso Palace is a 52,000-square-foot (4,800 m2) concrete pool, one of the largest in North America.
