Camping at Slide Rock State Park, AZ | 10K Road Trip Vlog Day 2
This is Day 2 and 3 of our 10,000 mile road trip across the US and Canada. We camped at Cave Springs, just north of Sedona, AZ and spent two fun days in Slide Rock State Park. It's cold, a little painful, and a lot fun.

What's going on here?
We quit our jobs, left New York City, bought a car, and decided to spend the summer driving around the US and Canada. The plan is to hit at least 35 states and 3 provinces and cover more than 10,000 miles. Watch from the beginning here:

Our Gear:
Canon G7X Mark II: (it’s amazing and basically sees in the dark)
Canon G7X: (the original is almost as good, but less expensive)
Joby Gorillapod: (fantastic versatile bendy tripod – this is the slightly smaller “action” version that’s easier to travel with and comes with a mount for a camera and a gopro)
Macbook Air: (we edit everything on Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Air, which is light and easy to travel with)
External Hard Drive: (the videos are a little too big for the macbook air to handle, so I edit everything off an external hard drive)

Beatiful Places To See- The Canadian Rockies
Beatiful Places To See- The Canadian Rockies
Banff National Park
Lake Louise: This beautiful turquoise lake rimmed with mountains is a Canadian icon. Accessible year-round, but the lake may be frozen from late October to early June; the classic turquoise color may not develop until around July. A paved pathway (wheelchair, stroller/pushchair accessible) follows the lakeshore for a considerable distance.
Moraine Lake: This magnificent glacial lake and its Valley of the Ten Peaks graced Canada's. Many visitors feel it is more beautiful than its famous neighbor, Lake Louise, a 20-minute drive away. An easy walk (0.5km / 0.3 mi, 15-20 minutes of walking) leads to the Rock pile viewpoint. The Moraine Lake road is closed to vehicles from early October to late May; exact dates are weather-dependent. Also, water levels in Moraine Lake can be quite low until mid-June.
Johnston Canyon: Johnston Creek rushes over two waterfalls in this narrow stone canyon. The Lower Falls is accessed through a dramatic natural tunnel; the Upper Falls has a dramatic high viewpoint. The paved trail to the Lower Falls is wheelchair and stroller/pushchair accessible trail.
Lake Louise Gondola (year-round): Sightseeing is possible in any season at The Lake Louise Ski Resort (temporary closure in October). Summer operations include the option of an open chair or enclosed gondola with a viewing platform, interpretive centre and full service restaurant at the gondola top. Scenic highlights include Lake Louise, Mt Temple and Victoria Glacier.
Lake Minnewanka, Lake Minnewanka boat cruise, Lake Minnewanka driving loop: Lake Minnewanka is a glacial lake surrounded by mountains. Apart from this you also can enjoy in the following places.
Sulphur Mountain
Surprise Corner
Lake castle
Vermilion Lakes:
Yoho National Park
Yoho is known as a beautiful area for hiking. Lake O'Hara is the best-known hiking area, but the area of the many waterfalls is also magnificent. Takakkaw Falls (late June-early October)
Emerald Lake
Lake O'Hara
Bow Lake
Peyto Lake,
Columbia Ice field,
Tangle Falls,
Athabasca Falls
Jasper National Park

Mount Robson Provincial Park
This is British Columbia's second-oldest provincial park and the site of Mount Robson (12972 ft), the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The provincial park starts at the west boundary of Jasper National Park, on the Yellowhead Highway. The Mount Robson viewpoint is about an hour's drive from Jasper.
Canadian Rockies Travel Guide | Canada's Most Beautiful Place To Visit
Join us for this Canadian Rockies travel guide as we explore one of Canada's most beautiful places to visit. The big reason we took a road trip from Ontario to Alberta and British Columbia was to see the Rocky Mountains. For Audrey's parents, especially her Dad, it has been a dream to see this beautiful part of Canada for decades. With a chance to finally do it we were all thrilled to visit the Canadian Rockies together as a family with Togo the German Shepherd. The following is everywhere we visited in and around the Canadian Rockies including most of our time spent in Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia:
1) Getting our park passes at Banff National Park for the whole family
2) Exploring the town of Banff including hiking the Bow River Trail and the Banff Springs Hotel
3) Visiting the nearby town of Canmore to walk along Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk Trail
4) Visiting Cascade Ponds where Audrey's sister got married
5) Exploring Lake Minnewanka where you can hike, kayak or canoe
6) Driving through Kootenay Provincial Park
7) Hiking to visit the Paint Pots to visit the pools
8) Visiting the incredibly beautiful Lake Moraine
9) Visiting world famous Lake Louise
10) Hiking the Old Coach Trail in between Radium Hot Springs and Dry Gulch
11) Relaxing at Windermere Lake
12) Checking out the famous Continental Divide
13) Visiting Kananaskis Country to visit Upper Kananaskis Lake and Lower Kananaskis Lake

Canadian Rockies Travel Guide | Canada's Most Beautiful Place To Visit Video Transcript:
Welcome to the Canadian Rockies! In the last video we showed you the 4-and-a-half day car journey from Ontario, but now it’s time to jump into the sightseeing.
We had 1 full week in the Rockies, splitting our time between both Alberta and British Columbia, and all of our days were spent hiking in woods, visiting the lakes, and just enjoying being surrounded by nature.
This was a family road trip with our trusty family dog Togo in tow, so we’re going to be sharing with you our adventure in what may well be the most beautiful part of Canada!
The Bow River trail is just a few steps from downtown Banff and it follows the riverside.
From there, we walked over to the Banff Springs Hotel. This historic hotel opened up in 1888 it’s one of Canada's grand railway hotels built by the Canadian Pacific Railway. We continued over to Canmore.
From there, we drove over to Lake Minnewanka, which has more of a bluer hue in comparison to the other turquoise and emerald lakes in the Rockies. Lake Minnewanka is a glacial lake 21 kilometres in length, making it the 2nd longest lake in the Rockies. It’s a hub for water activity like boat cruises, kayaking, canoeing, and well, it’s beautiful.
Later that day we drove to Moraine Lake, which is another glacially fed lake. It has a brilliant blue-green colour due to light refracting off the rock sediments, and like most destinations in the Rockies, this one was another stunner.
The views from the shore of Lake Louise were nothing short of stunning, we had Victoria Glacier perfectly framed by mountains on either side, and then the brilliant glacial waters with dotted with red canoes.
Our final destination in the Rockies was Kananaskis Country where we visited Lower Kananaskis Lake and Upper Kananaskis Lake.
The real highlight was finally spotting some wildlife just as we were leaving for the day.
And that’s a wrap for our Rockies Road Trip! We still have lots left to see of our home country, but we can honestly say this is one of the most beautiful destinations in all of Canada.
We hope you guys got a few ideas of places to visit on your trip.
Wishing you happy travels and see you next time!
This is part of our Travel in Canada video series showcasing Canadian food, Canadian culture and Canadian cuisine.

Philipsburg, Montana Travel Guide: An Old But Lively West-Mining Town
The draw of Philipsburg, MT, an old West-mining town that is still very much alive starts with the painted mainstreet and sweet spots to stop like Sweet Palace, a candy store where you will find hundreds of varieties. But the best stuff is what’s made in house, like the 50 kinds of fudge, 72 flavors of taffy and 20 varieties of caramel. Next door you will find Sapphire Gallery, where you can grab a bag of gravel guaranteed to have a sapphire inside for 25 bucks. When it comes to a spot to stay, check out the Broadway Hotel, a spot that was once a general store back in the mining hey day. Today, current owners have renovated the building into a charming hotel with 9 rooms that are all decorated to a different theme ranging from Route 66 to mining and even ranching to play homage to a current industry in the town.
