Ravensthorpe is a town 541 km south-east of Perth, 40 km inland from the south coast of Western Australia. It is the seat of government of the Shire of Ravensthorpe. At the 2006 census, Ravensthorpe had a population of 438.In 1848, the area was surveyed by Surveyor General John Septimus Roe who named many of the geographical features nearby, including the nearby Ravensthorpe Range that the later town was named after. Yallingup beach Western Australia,,, sorry about the poor video quality, this was shot in my old nexus 4, btw it was truly breathtaking views down there at yallingup beach. just 3 hours drive down from perth. to me this is the most beautiful beach in the world. Word of warning though. this is a surfing beach so the waves are really strong and dangerous.

31st March 2018 Easter at Hopetoun WA

We hadn't been to Hopetoun for over 10 years, the town has really grown but there are a lot of empty homes after the mine closure at Ravensthorpe. We did a tour East and West of the town to see the flood damage that happened in 2017. I think it was the first time the Phillips River forced the Culham Inlet to flow into the ocean since 1993. There must have been a huge amount of water as you can see debris from the flood 3-4m high in the trees from the parking areas and the bridge over the Jerdacuttup River. All in all a great weekend and a great place for 4WD fun and camping. I definitely won't wait another 10 years before I go back. Thanks Russ and Anne for your hospitality.
