Skåne County , sometimes referred to as Scania County in English, is the southernmost county or län, of Sweden, basically corresponding to the traditional province Skåne. It borders the counties of Halland, Kronoberg and Blekinge. The seat of residence for the Skåne Governor is the city of Malmö. The headquarters of Skåne Regional Council is the town of Kristianstad.The present county was created in 1997 when Kristianstad County and Malmöhus County were merged, and it covers around 3% of Sweden's total area, but its population of 1,250,000 comprises 13% of Sweden's total population. Prince Oscar of Sweden is Duke of Skåne.

  • 2. Kronoskogen Angelholm
    Kronoskogen is a forest area between Ängelholm and Skälderviken in Sweden. It is 6 kilometers by 2 kilometers, and is partially a protected nature reserve. It is home to an unusual forest ecosystem due to its sandy soils and beach location.

  • 5. Hovs Hallar Bastad
    Hov Church is located in the village Hov, Båstad, Scania, Sweden and is one church out of three used by the parish of Västra Karup. The current church was built in 1837–1839 after drawings by architect Samuel Enander. It's the third church at the same location. The first church was built during the 11th or 12th century. This was enlarged or rebuilt during the 16th century. Its font is carved in stone and is an artifact from the first church. It's dated to the 13th century. A plate of hamrade brass, was made for the font in Nuremberg, Germany in the 16th century. In the church does also Triumph-Crucifix from the 12th century hang, while the current altarpiece, painted by Fritiof Swensson from Gothenburg, was put up in 1922.   • 6. Hallands Vadero Torekov
    Hallands Väderö is a Swedish island located in the northwest corner of the Scania province, but it is named after the province above; Halland. Since 1958 it has been a nature reserve due to its valuable ecologic life with an old beech-forest, unusual fungi and large bird populations. During the summer season small ferries transport people to the island from Torekov. There are no permanent residents on the island at the present time, but many cabins from older times remain on the island and some can be rented for overnight accommodations. The island is also known for its large beaches that are good for bathing. In 2006 the Swedish state surveying Lantmäteriverket decided that the whole island belonged to the Church of Sweden due to an old agreement from 1753.

  • 7. Skaneleden Skane County
    The Skåneleden Trail is a long distance walking trail that stretches all over the beautiful countryside of Skåne, situated in the very south of Sweden. The trail is over 1000 kilometres long and divided into five separate trails, with a total of over 90 sections. The trail can easily be recognized by the orange trail marks along the footpath. The trail runs from the west to east and from north to south and passes through a highly diversified landscape such as rocky coastlines, undulating ridges, deep forests and white sandy beaches. Throughout the trail, there are about 90 permanent windshields for overnighting. The Skåneleden Trail is included in the 5000 kilometre long North Sea Trail, which passes through Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The f...
