O. Henry Recording:
“This is William Sydney Porter speaking, better known to you, no doubt, as O. Henry. I'm going to let you in on a few of my secrets in writing a short story. The most important thing, at least in my humble opinion, is to use characters you've crossed in your lifetime. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. All of my stories are actual experiences that I have come across during my travels. My characters are facsimiles of actual people I've known. Most authors spend hours, I'm told even days, laboring over outlines of stories that they have in their minds. But not I. In my way of thinking that's a waste of good time. I just sit down and let my pencil do the rest. Many people ask me how I manage to get that final little twist in my stories. I always tell them that the unusual is the ordinary rather than the unexpected. And if you people listening to me now start thinking about your own lives, I'm sure you'll discover just as many odd experiences as I've had. I hope this little talk will be heard long after I'm gone. I want you all to continue reading my stories then too. Goodbye, folks.”

Welcome to Lake Travis in Austin TX
Lake Travis Living
Brought to you by Brian Talley of Regent Property Group
The good life is waiting for you about 20 miles west of Austin, Texas in the Lake Travis area. With beautiful lake vistas, exciting development, a plethora of recreational activities, and a wide range of housing options, Lake Travis is thriving.
The cities of Bee Cave and Lakeway are popular choices for homeowners as they feed into the well-performing Lake Travis Independent School District. Lake Travis ISD is large geographically, spanning almost 120 square miles due to its lake topography. In addition to Bee Cave and Lakeway, some areas of Austin, Spicewood, The Hills, Briarcliff, Hudson Bend, and Dripping Springs also feed into the district.
Lake Travis ISD is roughly bound by Lake Travis to the north, the Travis and Hays County lines to the south, the Pedernales River to the west, and Lake Austin and Barton Creek to the east. The district’s exceptional schools excel in both academics and athletics and support a motto of “Every heart. Every mind. Every day.”
While many people move to the cities near Lake Travis for the schools, it’s a wonderful bonus that there is so much more! The area is packed with some of Texas’ best golf courses, retail features such as the Hill Country Galleria provide shopping opportunities galore, and Lake Travis offers over 270 miles of shoreline for boating, fishing, and other water sports. And since the Lake Travis ISD region is tucked on the south side of the lake, it also affords desirable proximity to the major metropolitan area of Austin.
Come for the schools - stay for the beautiful hills, trees, lake views, and more. Discover Lake Travis ISD listings today. Contact Brian Talley, founder and broker of Regent Property Group.
Yosemite National Park Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Yosemite National Park sits on the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most visitors spend their time in Yosemite Valley, which despite being only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide, packs in more jaw-dropping scenery than just about any other place on Earth.
Near the valley entrance stop at Tunnel View, and stand before a panorama that’s reduced generations of visitors to silence. From Tunnel View it’s just a short drive to Bridalveil Fall. Fed by snowmelt, the fall reaches its thundering peak in May.
The Yosemite Valley ring road follows the banks of the Merced River, which shifts in character as it thunders from the valley walls, before gently winding across the valley floor. The ring road is dotted with trailheads that lead to 800 miles of hiking trails. The Four Mile Trail climbs the valley’s southern wall to two of Yosemite’s great outlooks, Glacier Point and Washburn Point. Further along the ring road is the trailhead for The Mist Trail, which offers stunning views of Vernal and Nevada Falls.
For thousands of years, the Ahwaneechee had villages throughout this valley, but it was at the base of Yosemite Falls where their great chief resided. Take the one-hour hike to the lower falls, or spend the day climbing all the way to the upper falls.
To the north of Yosemite Valley, is Tioga Road, one of the USA’s most scenic highways. Fill your lungs with alpine air at Olmsted Point, refresh yourself by the waters of Tenaya Lake, then spend the day at Tuolumne Meadow, the traditional summer hunting grounds of the Ahwaneechee.
From its high country to its waterfalls, its towering sequoia groves to its valley meadows, Yosemite is an American story unlike any other.
Things to Do in Nevada: My Top Outdoor Activities in Reno and Lake Tahoe
We start our Reno Experience 20 minutes outside the city on one of the peaks of Sierra Nevada. Here, we join Tahoe Adventure Company for a snowshoe tour for some of the most epic views of Lake Tahoe. Next, we head to Diamond Peak Ski Resort which has some of the most scenic ski runs I’ve ever experienced. Make sure to ride the Crystal Express run to the bottom. It’s a long easy trail with stunning views of Lake Tahoe juxtaposed against the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Located less than an hour drive from Reno, it is easy to spend a day skiing Diamond Peak before heading back to Reno, which has more lodging and dining options, come evening. The small city hosts a range of hotels including Circus Circus and the Eldorado.
And while many people associate Reno mostly with casinos, there is actually quite lot more to do here than gamble. You’ll notice right away, driving down the main drag, that there’s also a giant climbing wall. At 164 feet it is the world’s largest manmade wall of its kind and is part of the just opened Basecamp rock climbing gym, which also has a 7,000-square-foot indoor component inside the Whitney Peak Hotel. If you’re looking for indoor kid friendly amenities, look no further than Nevada Discovery Museum. It features a number of fun interactive exhibitions including Nevada Stories, Under the Stars and Inside Out an Anatomy Experience.
Back on Virginia Street, there is plenty more entertainment. You don't want to miss eating at Kingpai inside the Circus Circus, which is a 24 hour all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on the weekends. After mosey on down to the Eldorado, where you can grab a drink at the Roxy, a jazz and martini bar inside with awesome happy hour specials. The music is fantastic and the jazz piano player takes songs by request and also sings his own sets. Try the chocolate martini or if you prefer a different spirit, The Kentucky is great for bourbon drinkers. Before you know it, the sun has set on Downtown Reno, closing out the perfect day in this city.
