Shamrock is a city in Wheeler County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 1,910. The city is located in the eastern portion of the Texas Panhandle centered along the crossroads of Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 83. It is 110 miles east of Amarillo, 188 miles west of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and 291 miles northwest of Dallas.

The USC Trojans are the athletic teams that represent the University of Southern California , located in Los Angeles, California. While the men's teams are nicknamed the Trojans, the women's athletic teams are referred to as either the Trojans or Women of Troy . The program participates in the Pac-12 Conference and has won 129 team national championships, 106 of which are National Collegiate Athletic Association national championships. USC's official colors are cardinal and gold. The Trojans have a cross-town rivalry with UCLA. However, USC's rivalry with Notre Dame predates the UCLA rivalry by three years. Its depth is around 820 ft , but in some locations, it increases to 1,000 ft . Historic Route 66 - Shamrock - Texas | Drive America's Highways

Drive America's Highways where The historic Mother Road meets the Texas Panhandle in Shamrock Texas. Join us as we drive 3 miles through historic Shamrock and pass by the old U-DROP-INN Cafe on the old Route 66.

If you are driving the historic route, this is the first time Rt 66 branches off of Interstate 40 in Texas. Unfortunately, the route is only the 3 miles in Shamrock and then I-40 takes over again.

The reason for this is economics. If you look at the map at the beginning of the video (or Google Maps), you will see I-40 bend around Shamrock (and every other small town in Texas) while the historic Route 66 continues into the town as I-40 Business Loop -- obviously saving the state money in building new highways when they can simply upgrade existing ones -- in this case, Rt 66.

We spent the week of Christmas with Jason's family in San Antonio, TX. We had a pretty low key week but still got out for some adventuring! Our brother in law flew everyone to Waco, TX to explore Magnolia Silos (any Fixer Upper lovers out there??). We also ventured to the Japanese Tea Gardens and drove from TX to AZ in 3 days!

A short tour around the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas on Historic Route 66.

Cadillac Ranch is a public art installation and sculpture in Amarillo, Texas, U.S. It was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Doug Michels, who were a part of the art group Ant Farm, and it consists of what were (when originally installed during 1974) either older running used or junk Cadillac automobiles, representing a number of evolutions of the car line (most notably the birth and death of the defining feature of early Cadillacs; the tail fin) from 1949 to 1963, half-buried nose-first in the ground, at an angle corresponding to that of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. The piece is a statement about the paradoxical simultaneous American fascinations with both a sense of place — and roadside attractions, such as The Ranch itself — and the mobility and freedom of the automobile.
