Washington State, USA: Scenic State Road 20 to North Cascades
State Road 20 branches east of I-5 going to North Cascades National Park. It traverses a rural landscape of farms, forests, cattle ranches and small towns like Lyman and Hamilton. Approaching the National Park SR 20 follows the course of the Skagit river, with far views of the snowed-capped mountains in the Cascades range.
RV Travel Life | Our Review of Cascade Peaks Family Campground
In today’s episode, I show you our current RV park, Cascade Peaks Family Campground. It’s located in Randle, WA in between Mount Rainer and Mount St. Helens. We chose to stay here for our last week of freedom before we turn our fifth wheel in to Camping World for the summer. This campground is an old 1000 trails location. I’m not sure when it was built, but it’s still pretty nice. They have over 400 campsites, 120 with full hookups, and 280 with power and water.
The week we stayed was in early June, not yet tourist season. As such, we only had to pay $150 for a week with full hookups and 50 amp. In a strange twist, I was told to drive out and pick my own site. We’ve never stayed at a campground or RV park where we could pick our own site, it was kind of nice.

▶About Us: John is a 3x Combat Veteran (Army), Laura was a Veterinary Technician, in 2016 they downsized and sold nearly everything they owned and moved into a 5th Wheel (Cedar Creek), bought a dually and left their former lives behind for travel and adventures. THE TOWN ALMOST DIDN'T SURVIVE | Leavenworth, Washington | S3E19
Leavenworth has an interesting history. Apparently it grew at a sawmill/ lumber town. But when the industry moved over to Wenatchee the town literally got the short end of the stick. They had nothing to fall back on and boost the economy. They partnered up with The University of Washington and turned things around when they became a theme town based on the model in Salvang, California.
