Hiking Samaria Gorge 2016
We hiked Samaria Gorge in September 2016 on our trip to Crete, Greece. It was amazing!
HIKING GORGES & MOUNTAINS! Samaria Gorge, the LONGEST in Europe!
After our first night of camping in the Airtop we set off hiking down Samaria Gorge. This 18km long gorge is the longest in Europe, it normally takes a day from one end to the other and you catch a ferry back to the mainland. We did the simpler (and easier) version of hiking to the midway point and then back up to where we started.
Who knew that Greece would have such beautiful mountain forests!!

We said goodbye to our jobs, sold all our belongings, and left Australia on a one-way ticket to Shanghai with just each other and our backpacks! We plan to travel the world for a year, see as much as possible, meet as many people as we can, and most importantly MAKE OUR MONEY LAST!

[4K] ATHENS, GREECE - Walk Through The Acropolis
Join us in this winter walking tour through the Acropolis in Athens Greece.
We start our slow tv 4K adventure with a spectacular view over the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, with the city of Athens spread out behind.
A stepped path takes up to the Acropolis itself, where we are met with the Temple of Athena Nike on our right, the Pinakothḗkē on our left and the ancient entrance to the Acropolis, the Propylaea, ahead of us.
And following through here, we find the great Parthenon itself, as well as the Hekatompedon Temple, The Porch of the Caryatids, the Erechtheion, the Temple Of Rome And Augustus as well as the Old Acropolis Museum.

Warrandyte State Park - Gold Heritage Walk (A Brief Visual Tour). Located about 30 mins East of Melbourne towards the Yarra Valley
A reasonably easy bush and track walk that could be done in 40 mins but we saw enough interesting sites and relics that it ended up being a 6km, 2 hour trek. The whole area is covered in old gold diggings.
This video shows the mines of the are along with the Miner's Hut, Mine Shafts, Diggings & the monument marking the area where the first gold was found in Victoria that sparked the Gold Rush of the Mid 19th century.

HIPPY CAVES! They Lived In Ancient Roman Tombs?!
Matala is a small coastal town on the Greek island of Crete. Like most places in Greece it is steeped in history, but this place had some interesting residents….HIPPIES!!
During the 1960’s and 70’s hippies migrated here and lived in the ancient Roman tombs carved out of the cliff face during the Neolithic Age (that’s more than 6,500 years ago!). We get that this is a beautiful beach and we can appreciate the appeal of living a simple life, but living in an old tomb?! We’re not so sure….
After our dose of hippy town we headed to Triopetra Beach (Three Rock Beach). Our Airbnb host recommended this as an ideal place to camp and he was spot on! Beautiful beach, great taverna, free showers and quiet after sunset - PERFECT!
