Denham is the administrative town for the Shire of Shark Bay, Western Australia. At the 2006 census, Denham had a population of 607.Located on the western coast of the Peron Peninsula 831 kilometres north of Perth, Denham is the westernmost publicly accessible town in Australia, and is named in honour of Captain Henry Mangles Denham of the Royal Navy, who charted Shark Bay in 1858. Today Denham survives as the gateway for the tourists who come to see the dolphins at Monkey Mia, which is located 23 kilometres northeast of the town. The town also has an attractive beach and a jetty popular with those interested in fishing and boating.

1. Shark Bay Denham
Shark Bay is a World Heritage Site in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The 2,200,902-hectare area is located approximately 800 kilometres north of Perth, on the westernmost point of the Australian continent. UNESCO's official listing of Shark Bay as a World Heritage Site reads: Shark Bay’s waters, islands and peninsulas....have a number of exceptional natural features, including one of the largest and most diverse seagrass beds in the world. However it is for its stromatolites , that the property is most renowned. The property is also famous for its rich marine life including a large population of dugongs, and provides a refuge for a number of other globally threatened species.

Famous for its absolute water frontage and panoramic ocean views, Denham Seaside Tourist Village is located right on beautiful Shark Bay with its own lovely safe beach. Perfect for your family holiday and especially appealing to those who enjoy swimming, fishing and boating activities. Tim talks to manager Karen Cox about the park. Denham is coming into dugong and turtle season where they swim with people out the front of the park. People stay at the park for 3 - 4 months at a time to escape the cold weather in Perth and migrate here. Tim also talks to guests Pat and Lina who have been coming to the park for eleven years in the wintertime. There are 150 powered sites, 10 unpowered sites and 18 cabins. Part 2 of our travels from Perth to Shark Bay and we kick off at a great free camp just outside of Kalbarri. We roll through Shell Beach and Denham for a look before pulling up for a few days at the beautiful Monkey Mia to see the dolphins.

Perth to Exmouth, Coral Coast Western Australia Road Trip

We rented a campervan in Cairns and set off on a 2 and a half month road trip around Australia. It’s a heck of a long way (20,000 km!!) but these videos will show what we got up to on the road!
