Steam Trains : Bendigo Line Anniversary Special. Sun 21/10/12
Some views of Steamrails special to Bendigo to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Bendigo line, and to also return R711 back to service. The R used to be on display outside of the Bendigo railway station after being place in the park in 1981 after being swapped for R766 for Steam Age Australia. The tour ran on Sun 21/10/12 and is seen at various locations along the Bendigo line on the down and up journey. The R was built by the North British Locomotive company in the early 1950's, only just predating the first of the EMD diesels that entered service with the VR. It has since been modified to an oil burner from it's days with West Coast Railway.
