Video tour through the medieval town of Speyer. One of Germany's oldest towns. The city is dominated by the Old Town Gate (Altpörtel) and the Romanesque Cathedral with its restored nineteenth-century westwork. After walking down the main street (Maximillianstraße) we enter the Cathedral. A number of German emperors are buried in the crypt, the most famous being Henry IV, who walked the Road to Canossa to ask the Pope for forgiveness after he was excommunicated during the Investiture Controversy (1077). After visiting the Cathedral, we climb the tower to have great views over the old town and the Rhine valley.

Baden-Baden is a spa town in southwestern Germany’s Black Forest, near the border with France. Its thermal baths led to fame as a fashionable 19th-century resort. Alongside the Oos River, park-lined Lichtentaler Allee is the town’s central promenade. The Kurhaus complex (1824) houses the elegant, Versailles-inspired Spielbank (casino). Its Trinkhalle has a loggia decorated with frescoes and a mineral-water fountain.
Baden-Baden's curative waters and air of old-world luxury have attracted royals, the rich and celebrities over the years – Barack Obama and Bismarck, Queen Victoria and Victoria Beckham included. This Black Forest town boasts grand colonnaded buildings and whimsically turreted art nouveau villas spread across the hillsides and framed by forested mountains.
The bon vivant spirit of France, just across the border, is tangible in the town’s open-air cafes, chic boutiques and pristine gardens fringing the Oos River. And with its temple-like thermal baths – which put the Baden (bathe) in Baden – and palatial casino, the allure of this grand dame of German spa towns is as timeless as it is enduring.
Baden-Baden (meaning The Baths in Baden) is a spa town built on thermal springs at the edge of the Black Forest in Baden Württemberg, south west Germany. Don't be put off by its reputation as a hang-out for the rich. This picturesque town is beautifully situated in a wooded valley, and you can enjoy yourself here without spending or gambling a fortune.

Michelstadt, Sehenswürdigkeiten der mittelalterlichen Fachwerkstadt
Wir beginnen unseren Rundgang durch die größte Stadt des Odenwaldkreises (Hessen) am historischen Marktplatz. Dort bewundern wir das Rathaus von 1484, den Marktbrunnen und die Fachwerkhäuser. Anschliessend können wir in der bereis im Jahre 741 erstmals urkundlich erwähnten Stadt u.a.
die Stadtkirche Michelstadt von 1490, die Synagoge, das Elefantenhaus, die Burg Michelstadt und den Gasthof Grüner Baum besichtigen.

We begin our tour through the biggest town of the district Odenwald (Hessen) at the historic market place. Here we can admire the town hall from 1484, the market fountain and the half-timbered houses. Michelstadt was first mentioned in records from 741. After the market square we can visit for example the town church Michelstadt from 1490, the synagogue, the elephant house, the castle Michelstadt and the guesthouse ‘Green Tree’ (‘Grüner Baum’).
