Places to see in ( Konstanz - Germany ) Niederburg
Places to see in ( Konstanz - Germany ) Niederburg
The Niederburg is an urban district with narrow, winding streets and houses from the Middle Ages in the district of the old town of Konstanz on the left bank of the Rhine . The Niederburg is located south of the Seerhein and is framed by the Rheinsteig to the north, the Konzilstrasse to the east, the Paradies district to the west and the Münster cathedral on the south by the Konstanzer Münster.
The Niederburg below the residence of the bishop to the Seerhein was inhabited by craftsmen, fishermen and small merchants. Among them were servants who were liable to pay bishop. Furthermore, canons of the bishop lived here. Part of the buildings were destroyed during the city fire of 1355. The alleys are crooked, so that enemy fire could be stopped.
In the Brückengasse 1 is the former church St. Johann. Further in the Brückengasse are the Dominican convent Zoffingen from the 13th century and the Spitalkellerei Konstanz. West and peripheral in the Gerichtsgasse is the district court . East and peripherally the city theater Konstanz lies .
The houses from the Middle Ages are recognizable in the maze of alleys by their names and dates . The Rheingasse leads to the former Rhine bridge with the Rheintorturm. The Inselgasse connects with the Dominican island . The houses in Niederburggasse are from the 15th century. In Konradigasse 3 was the former cathedral school.
In Niederburg, restaurants and wine bars have been preserved in old walls. Furthermore, the Niederburg is a location for special crafts such as upholstery, violin making and lead glass window workshop. Specialty stores and retailers offer exquisite products.

Travel Germany - Visiting Wernigerode Castle
Take a tour of Wernigerode Castle in Wernigerode, Germany -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Wernigerode Castle, overlooking a city of the same name, sits atop a hill in northern Germany.
The castle was used as a fortress and safe haven in medieval times as a rest stop for German nobles on hunting retreats.
The castle has been renovated three times in the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries and has incorporated Baroque, Renaissance, and Gothic style architecture.
After damage from the Thirty Years' War, the castle was transformed into a charming retreat.
Among the last restorations made to the castle was the round shape given to the now romantic palace.
Visitors can now tour parts of the castle's grounds as well as its impressive, ornate interior.

Eifelsteig
Meine Aufnahmen von meiner Wanderung auf dem Eifelsteig von Gerolstein nach Trier. Aufgeteilt in 6 Etappen. Bestehend aus Etappe 10 Gerolstein - Daun
11 Daun - Manderscheid
12 Manderscheid - Himmerod
13 Bruch - Himmerod (bin ich andersrum gelaufen)
14 Bruch - Kordel
