For Germany:
For the US:
Hi! I'm Kelly and I am an American who lived in Germany for 18 wonderful months. While I lived abroad before in Turkey and had done quite a bit of traveling beforehand, those 18 months in Germany definitely broadened my perspective of Germany, Europe, and even the US in so many different ways! I wanted to share my perceptions with you guys through YouTube so that maybe you can gain context to things you've heard about, or learn new information or a different perspective, or maybe this is everything you've heard before and further confirms your world view. No matter what the reason, I hope that you enjoy my videos! Don't forget to subscribe to my channel and turn on notifications so that you always know when I'm posting new content :)

Saarbrücken | City Tour
Hi there! This is a quick vlog like video of my day in Saarbrücken, Germany. This city is on the boarder of France....like within 10 minutes of walking you've crossed the boarder! It serves as a major shopping hub for the area and also has a main train station connecting to other popular European cities. There's a lovely city center where you can find charming cafes, variety of restaurants, and multi weekly farmers markets.
My Favorite place is the beautiful park...as you can see on nice days like this everyone is outside soaking up the sun. I found a nice tree chill out under for an hour. The city also has many connecting bike paths, so it's perfect to take a relaxing ride.
I hope you enjoyed getting to see a taste of my neighborhood. I plan on doing more of these style videos as I visit more of my favorite European cities.
Thanks so much for watching!

Neustadt in Sachsen, Germany
Neustadt, a town in the south east of Germany is nestled in the Neustädter Valley between the ridges of the Hohwald and the Ungerberg only a couple of kilometres from the Czech border. The valley lies between the Lusatian Highlands and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and is known for the spring snowflakes that grow here.
Neustadt was first mentioned in 1333 in connection with gold mining. The founders of the town were miners. Gold has never been found here despite numerous attempts to look for it. Nonetheless the town continued to grow as it was an important crossroads of two trade routes, the salt road from Halle (Saale) to Prague and the pilgrim road from Bautzen to the Bohemian pilgrimage town of Mariaschein which is today called Bohosudov. The first church, the Hospitalkirche, probably stood on the former pilgrim road even before the founding of the town, at the Hospitalstraße. Soon after the founding of the town, the Jakobikirche was built, either named after the Saint James or because it stood on the medieval St. James’ Way.
Initially, the city belonged to the Kingdom of Bohemia before becoming part of Saxony in 1451.
Industries included metal working, tractor production and during WW2 88mm anti aircraft weapons.
At the beginning of May 1945, some of Neustadt's inhabitants decided to hand over their town, which had no regular troops, to the advancing Red Army and 2nd Polish Army. The capitulation was offered by hoisting white flags. Nonetheless a die hard Hitler Youth leader thought differently. He had entrenched himself in the school with some Hitler Youth boys and opened fire on the approaching Soviet and Polish armies. Fire was met with fire including heavy weapons which damaged a great deal of the town and caused massive conflagrations. Half of the buildings around the market square were destroyed. Only the intervention of the Catholic and Protestant pastors who were able to plead with the Soviet commander spared the rest of the city. The Catholic priest spoke Sorbian which is similar enough to Polish and Russian to be understandable and this saved the town from complete destruction.
In the DDR, Neustadt was a centre of agricultural machinery production and because of this the population doubled from 1948 to 1984. Other industries included knife and artificial flower production. Today the most important local business is Capron which makes recreational vehicles on the site of the former anti aircraft and later agricultural implements factory. Unemployment currently stands at around ten percent and this is the best figure since the 1990s. You can see the Capron factory in another film!
Town Hall
The Town Hall in the middle of the market square was built around 1700. Above the town hall portal one finds the coats of arms of Meissen and Neustädt. The town hall clock tower is copper-plated. Some say that the shape of the town hall is reminiscent of a mining hut. Near the town hall we find the town hall tower with the clock. The building resembles a hut house, which may be explained by the founding history of the town by Freiberg miners.
Distance pillar in the market square
Elector Friedrich August I of Saxony had a number of distance columns put up in the first half of the 18th century in his Electorate. The distance pillar in Neustadt has been moved although not very far and it is almost at its original location on the east side of the town hall on the market square and bears the date 1729. Until 1888, it stood in front of the town hall, was then removed to a park in front of the imperial post office. In 1929 it returned to the marketplace. It has been repaired and restored. The distance information is given to many surrounding cities using the old form of measurement Wegstunden (1 St. = 7,531m).
The tallest building in Neustadt is the tower of the neo-gothic style Protestant St. Jacobi church. The church was first mentioned in 1346. Since then there have been several church buildings made of wood and later also of stone, some of which were dilapidated or no longer fit the requirements of the growing city. The oldest surviving part of the church is the 16th century chancel. The tower with its clock can be seen far from the surrounding hills and therefore anyone who had good eyesight could always read the exact time even at a time when people did not own their own wristwatch – or have a telephone as things are now! In addition to the services, numerous concerts are held in the church.
Neustadt's oldest building is the vicarage, built in 1616, with its Renaissance-style entrance portal and its exposed Franconian framework.
The catholic church named after St. Gertrude was built 1927-1928.

5 Unmissable Events From Around Germany in October 2017
#AirpazGlobal90 #AirpazGlobalStartTravelingNow
October in Germany may seem a bit glum after the excitement of Oktoberfest,
but that doesn't mean you should stay in and nurse your never-ending hangover.
Here are the Local's picks of things to do over the month from all across the country.
1. Long Night of the Museums in Munich (October 14th)
Although everyone's favourite beer festival comes to an end at the start of the month, there is still plenty to do in Munich this October,
including marvelling at the Bavarian capital's cultural heritage at the dead of night.
Starting at 7 pm, the long night of the museums goes on until 2 am, with around 90 museums, galleries and churches participating.
The theme this year is energy - so be prepared to see some science and technology.
2. Neustadt an der Weinstraße’s wine festival (September 22th- October 9th)
If traditional country fairs are more your thing then head out to Neustadt an der Weinstraße’s annual wine grower’s festival, which is also a combination of not one, but two festivals put together.
Wine festivals aren’t exactly an endangered species deep in the German countryside, but this one boasts the crowning of two different wine queens, one for the Palatine area and another for the whole country.
Plus it has the largest winegrower’s parade in the whole of Germany.
The parade is expected to garner more than 100,000 visitors and there will be fairground rides and live bands on site, making it more of a party than anything else.
3. Hamburg film festival (October 5th-14th)
Back for its 25th anniversary, the Hamburg film festival is always a top pick on our lists.
Every year, the ten-day festival pulls in more than 40,000 attendees and this year won’t be any different.
There’s also something for the little ones as the Michel children and youth film festival is also taking place from October 6th to 14th in the nearby Abaton cinema.
4. Berlin Food Week (October 14th- 21st)
Back in the capital, Berlin’s fourth annual food week is coming to Kaufhaus Jandorf.
The so-called “House of Food” will provide a roof for more than 70 companies offering their tasty treats,
as well as workshops and cooking shows for those more interested in cooking than eating.
The festival aims to make Berlin an international food metropolis, by displaying regional and international cuisine,
as well as teaching visitors about nutritional awareness and sustainability.
Regardless of your food preference, if you’re a chef, blogger, restaurateur or just a food junky, this festival is for you.
5. Frankfurt Book Fair (October 11th- 15th)
For our final choice, we’ve gone for the Frankfurt Book Fair, which is the biggest book fair in the world.
More than 7,100 exhibitors from over 100 countries present 400,000 book titles at the five-day fair, although only the last two are open to the public.
Our personal recommendation is that you go on the last day, as all the books on offer are available to buy at their retail price.
So if you’re looking for your next page-turner you can take your pick of what traders have to offer and start reading as soon as you leave.
