Landscapes: Winter (30th June - 1st July 2017) (Cradle Mountain)
A brief history:
Gustav Weindorfer, a keen mountain climber and collector of native plants, led him to join the Victoria Field Naturalist Club, where he met his wife Kate, and married in Tasmania in 1906. It was during their honeymoon on Mount Roland that they first saw cradle Mountain.
In 1910, the couple and friends climbed Cradle Mountain. As they rested on the summit, Gustav Weindorfer proclaimed This must be a national park for the people for all time. It is magnificent, and people must know about it and enjoy it.
Gustav campaigned tirelessly to see the Cradle Mountain area reserved. He conducted a series of lecture tours and lobbied tourism and government officials and gained influential support from the Director of the Tasmanian Government Tourist Bureau, Evelyn Emmett and the Curator of Natural History with the Tasmanian Museum, Clive Lord. The three men approached the Minister for Lands, who was supportive of the proposal.

A mixed compilation of videos and timelapses while on my short expedition up to Marion's Lookout at Cradle Mountain Tasmania.
Videos may not be in chronological order... But hopefully it gives you a vague picture of what the mountain is like. In my opinion, it's kind of like heaven, maybe colder.

Exploring Mt Lofty, Warrandyte State Park
The views from Mt Lofty, in the Warrandyte State Park, 30 km east of the Melbourne CBD, are superb. On the day of my visit, February 23 2009, where I completed a 3 km circuit hike, serious bushfires continued to burn across Victoria and in the mountains near to Melbourne.
