Tabilk is a closed railway station on the Goulburn Valley railway in the township of Tabilk, Victoria, Australia. The station opened at the same time as the railway from Mangalore to Shepparton on 13 January 1880 and closed in 1985. The platform was on the east side of the line, with the dirt mound remaining today. Prior to its closure, in 1975, the platform was shortened at the Up end of the station.

Shepparton is a city located on the floodplain of the Goulburn River in northern Victoria, Australia, approximately 181 kilometres north-northeast of Melbourne. At June 2016, the estimated urban population of Shepparton, including Mooroopna, was 50,198.It began as a sheep station and river crossing in the mid-19th century, before undergoing a major transformation as a railway town. Today it is an agricultural and manufacturing centre, and the centre of the Goulburn Valley irrigation system, one of the largest centres of irrigation in Australia. It is also a major regional service city and the seat of local government and civic administration for the City of Greater Shepparton, which includes the surrounding towns of Tatura, Merrigum, Mooroopna, Murchison, Dookie, Toolamba and Grahamvale.

Halfway GBSR, day 13, and I felt very good. This day through Latvia and Lithuania was to be the longest trip, around 270km. It seemed to me like a splendid idea to set my mark here as being one of the fastest and best-prepared riders on this tour. I left as one of the last from the campground Nemo in Jurmala and settled into a rather high pace right from the start. During the morning I overtook all the riders... but one. I found my match in Jurgen. Even after continuously riding at 160bpm heartrate for an hour he kept up with me. We had great fun on the semi flats and mostly excellent roads. Jurgen confessed at the lunch-stop in Siauliai (Schaulen) that he was riding close to his limit, as was I. Jurgen reached the beautiful campground Happy Valley with a very friendly host close to the Polish border at 3.15PM and I was 10 minutes behind him. The heat and the slow climbs without airflow forced me to a slower pace, because I was getting too hot at full throttle, despite taking the hood off on the longer climbs. My average was higher than that of Jurgen because of leaving later in the morning. Much of the difference I could make up on the very bad gravel road near the Lithuanian border, where I rode around twice as fast as Jurgen.
