HISTORY AND CULTURE
Bertioga is home of the first documented fort construction in Brazil. Built in 1532, the
Fort São João is an ideal place to learning, evolving children and adults in a pleasure
visit, which culminates with a beautiful view of Bertioga Canal.
The Itatinga Village is another Bertioga historical heritage, which is also part of Brazilian
history. As an authentic English village, built in 1910, the place hosts the first
hydroelectric dam in the country that until our days, helps to give energy to Porto de
Santos, the biggest one of Latin America. The visits must be always scheduled.
SILVEIRA RIVER´S NATIVE INDIAN VILLAGE
On the border between Bertioga e São Sebastião, we can find a living record of Brazilian history. There´s a Guarani village, that house about 400 native Indians. Located at Boracéia Beach, the families grown palm and ornamental plants, produce
crafts and keep shinning the knowledge of their culture, promoting dances, music and typical culinary. The village receives organized visits.

The Native Indian Culture Festival is one of the most important in Brazil. It promotes

the Indian groups, has as an objective to discuss issues about Indians, ecology and

ENSEADA BEACH -- in the commercial city center, this beach was the first one to receive a new urban project from the renowned architect Ruy Ohtake.
CANTÃO DO INDAIÁ -- it´s located in the end of Enseada Beach. With nice and calm water, it´s ideal for swimming. This beach has been chosen by sailors as an excellent place to practice nautical sports.
SÃO LOURENÇO BEACH -- it´s a to find place beautiful people and fun. It´s mix the traditional of neighborhood São Lourenço and the modernity of Riviera de São Lourenço.
ITAGUARÉ BEACH -- it´s a 3 km long beach, yet untouchable. This is the paradise for surfers and nature lovers, fully preserved by law with the creation of the State Park of Restinga Bertioga.
GUARATUBA BEACH -- between Itaguaré River and Guaratuba River, there´s an open sea with its crystal water, which creates a beautiful scenery for families recreation.

Bertioga watershed is one of the biggest on our seaside and it´s divided into three main rivers: Itapanhaú, Itaguaré , Guaratuba besides Itatinga River and Jaguareguava which flows into Itapanhaú itself. A great tour for those who enjoy nature or amateur fishing.

Here is my top 7 Things to do in Santos Brazil
1) Visit the local BBQ restaurants. They have some of the best Steaks in the world and prepared to perfection.
2) Eat Black Beans with pork at a local open street restaurant. Got to try this. Very informal place, but you will love the atmosphere
3) You have to try the Caipirinha. Almost like a mojito, just better
4) Visit Saint Christopher's Church. After all, he is the Saint for travellers
5) Go Paragliding. Just go with a trusted local. The road to the top of the mountain can be dangerous.
6) Take a road trip to ITU and visit Varito Park
7) Last but not least. My favourite: Rent some Stand Up paddle boards and go for a paddle in the bay area or in the ocean.
Seaside city of Bertioga
Over 30 km of beaches await for the tourists in Bertioga, which also has treks, waterfalls and conserved Atlantic Rainforest. There travelers can spot beauties of its fauna and flora, such as Brazilian tanagers, sloths, orchids, bromeliads, among others.
In the rivers Itapanhaú, Jaguareguava, Guaratuba and Itaguaré it's possible to take schooner rides and fishing tours. Bertioga's continuous beaches are an invitation to surfing and water sports.
The city also features the oldest fortress built in Brazil, in 1532: the São João Fortress. Bertioga is home to artisans and artists and it's possible to find Indigenous craftsmanship there as well.

Touristic City of Barra Bonita
Bathed by a virtually clean Tietê River, Barra Bonita's main attraction is its lock, the first built in South America, created to overcome the 26 meters of the hydroelectric power plant named after the city. Tourists can take rides in boats for 100, 300, 400 and 700 passengers.
The Praça do Teleférico (Cable Car Square) is another interesting venue, with attractions such as paddle boats in the artificial lake, kart track and the Trade Fair Center.
Downtown, there is the Trenzinho Simpatia train ride, the Jardineira and the Barra Bonita tram, which takes a tour around the city's main touristic sites, such as the Artesanato square, Tietê River Memorial and the historic Campos Salles bridge.

Precipícios e belas paisagens no trem equatoriano Nariz do Diabo
