City Description:
Fortaleza is the capital of the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceará. It's known for its beaches, which are punctuated by red cliffs, palm trees, dunes and lagoons. Fortaleza’s long-standing folkloric traditions are presented in dance performances at the art nouveau José de Alencar theater, open since 1910. Another architectural highlight is the neo-Gothic Catedral Metropolitana. The popular beach neighborhood of Praia de Iracema hosts lively nightclubs, restaurants and the EMCETUR Tourism Center, a former 19th-century jail with craft shops in the cells, downstairs from the Museu de Arte e Cultura Popular. The Meireles neighborhood is known for its beach boulevard and nightly handicrafts market. The Dragão do Mar art and culture center features movie theaters and museums in a contemporary setting that contrasts with the 19th-century colonial buildings it neighbors. Inland, visitors can hike amid mangrove swamps at the sprawling Cocó Ecological Park on the Rio Cocó river.
Weather and Events:
Peak periods include summer (Dec–Feb), which is hot and dry, and Jun–Aug. Carnaval (Feb, dates vary) and the pre-Carnaval street parties in the weekends leading up to it is a busy period. Other key events are the São João/Festa Junina celebrations (Jun), featuring folk dancing; Fortal (Jul), an off-season Carnaval with concerts; and Ceará Music (Oct/Nov), an international rock and pop festival. The climate is tropical and warm year-round, with a rainy season Apr–Jul.

White Sandy Beach in Brazil
Praia do Baixio is a large beach with beautiful white sand dunes and extensive coconut trees. There are 5 surrounding lagoons. We had a perfect relaxing day full of sunshine, sweet sea breeze and tranquility.
Baixio is a small fishing village in Esplanada, Bahia, Brazil. It’s known as “the eternal summer because of its perfect climate all year around. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of mass tourism.
Tuesday, May 1, 2018 was Labor Day in Brazil. The kids had the day off from school. Our friends from our apartment complex invited us to visit Praia do Baixio for the day. It was a 2 hour 40 minute drive but it was well worth it. The drive was beautiful and we had the beach all to ourselves all day. We did have to walk almost 2 kilometers to get there but that was actually pretty fun. We saw lots of large flying bugs, a venomous coral snake and a sloth.
We were so happy to arrive at the beach. The blue lagoon wasn’t exactly blue but was still beautiful and pleasant. The water was fresh and warm. There was a huge white sandy hill that we had tons of fun running and rolling down. There were also stand up paddle boards and kayaks to rent. Our kids LOVED it! The best part was that our kids played in harmony all day. Video 48

Rio de Janeiro (River of January), or simply Rio, is the second-largest city in Brazil, the sixth-largest city in the Americas, and the world's thirty-ninth largest city by population. The metropolis is anchor to the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area, the second most populous metropolitan area in Brazil, the seventh-most populous in the Americas, and the twenty-third largest in the world. Rio de Janeiro is the capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's third-most populous state. Part of the city has been designated as a World Heritage Site, named Rio de Janeiro: Carioca Landscapes between the Mountain and the Sea.
Founded in 1565 by the Portuguese, the city was initially the seat of the Captaincy of Rio de Janeiro, a domain of the Portuguese Empire. Later, in 1763, it became the capital of the State of Brazil, a state of the Portuguese Empire. In 1808, when the Portuguese Royal Court transferred itself from Portugal to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro became the chosen seat of the court of Queen Maria I of Portugal, who subsequently, in 1815, under the leadership of her son, the Prince Regent, and future King João VI of Portugal, raised Brazil to the dignity of a kingdom, within the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and Algarves. Rio stayed the capital of the pluricontinental Lusitanian monarchy until 1822, when the War of Brazilian Independence began. This is one of the few instances in history that the capital of a colonising country officially shifted to a city in one of its colonies. Rio de Janeiro subsequently served as the capital of the independent monarchy, the Empire of Brazil, until 1889, and then the capital of a republican Brazil until 1960 when the capital was transferred to Brasília.

CASABLANCA MARRUECOS
On my way to Brazil I had a 20 hours layover in Casablanca, Morocco. Traveling with Royal Air Morocco I had a paid hotel, transport and food.
About Casablanca:
Casablanca is located in the central-western part of Morocco bordering the Atlantic Ocean, is the largest city in Morocco. It is also the largest city in the Maghreb, as well as one of the largest and most important cities in Africa, both economically and demographically.
Casablanca is Morocco's chief port and one of the largest financial centers on the continent. According to the 2014 population estimate, the city has a population of about 3.35 million in the urban area and over 6.8 million in the Casablanca-Settat region. Casablanca is considered the economic and business center of Morocco, although the national political capital is Rabat.
The leading Moroccan companies and international corporations doing business in the country have their headquarters and main industrial facilities in Casablanca. Recent industrial statistics show Casablanca retains its historical position as the main industrial zone of the country. The Port of Casablanca is one of the largest artificial ports in the world, and the second largest port of North Africa, after Tanger-Med 40 km east of Tangier. Casablanca also hosts the primary naval base for the Royal Moroccan Navy.
Royal Air Maroc has its head office at the Casablanca-Anfa Airport. In 2004, it announced that it was moving its head office from Casablanca to a location in Province of Nouaceur, close to Mohammed V International Airport. The agreement to build the head office in Nouaceur was signed in 2009.
The biggest CBD of Casablanca and Maghreb is in the North of the town in Sidi Maarouf near the mosque of Hassan II and the biggest project of skycrapers of Maghreb and Africa Casablanca Marina.
