Streets of Rio De Janeiro
In an attempt to seek out adventure and explore a real rain forest, I venture out to Copacabana- a beach town- where I will have quick access to awesome beaches and of course the Corcovado mountain located south of the Tijuca forest which is claimed to be the world's largest urban forest, covering 20 miles.
Departing out of LAX, I arrive in Rio De Janeiro- about a 11 hour flight, I just traveled over 5600 miles!
Founded in 1565 by the Portuguese, rio has plenty of tall buildings and amazing bridges. Art, sports and nature which coincide with their way of living.
Brazil is an ideal visit for any explorer.
I took a inside look at the Favelas.
Fort Copacabana was built in 1914 and is at the south end by Posto Seis and Fort Duque de Caxias, which was built in 1779.
Along the beach strip you’ll notice all sorts of awesome Hotels, bars, clubs and more places where you can relax after a nice hike.
Copacabana Beach is known to the millions who visit for the
FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, carnival or the 2016 summer Olympics.
Uncharted Destiny: Cristo Redentor is uncovered as we hike through the Tijuca forest and atop the Corcovado Mountain.
FESTIVAL DE VIDA SUSTENTÁVEL located at the Parque Lage Visual Art School building. An awesome event loaded with music, breads, spreads, craft beers, an art show and fun for the kids.
I was able to explore some of the local’s favorite dishes and find out that honey is very popular. The ground floor of Corcovado mountain offered carved out tunnels, towers and other marvels. I witnessed photo shoots of all kinds.
The last day I spent in Rio De Janeiro was intended to be very relaxing. I took a quick walk down to Ipanema beach which is a reported surf beach infested with gorgeous cactus. I walked up on the Stone Arpoador and then it hit me- this is a great pace to live life out here listening to the waves crash slowly but surely.

Check your local public television station for this Rick Steves’ Europe episode or watch it on Lisbon, built with the riches of Portugal's New World discoveries, has a rustic charm. We'll remember great navigators, eat lots of cod, enjoy pastries hot out of the oven, stroll the city's back lanes and its reinvigorated waterfront, marvel at an exquisite church built with spice taxes, and enjoy some soulful fado music. Then we'll side-trip to Sintra to explore the fanciful castles of Portuguese royalty and climb hilltop ramparts with grand views.
