Salesópolis is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 16,688 in an area of 424.997 km². Salesópolis sits at an elevation of 850 metres . It is noted for being the source of the Tietê River.Salesópolis was founded in the 19th century as São José do Paraitinga, and later became the parish of Santana de Mogi das Cruzes in 1838. Touristic Ciy of Piraju

The main attraction of this city, located in the Southeastern region of São Paulo state, is the Paranapanema River, which crosses the city completely unpolluted. In Guarani language, Piraju means golden fish and reveals the bounty of fish that attracts sport fishermen.
Arco-Íris waterfall, 15 meters high, and Castelo waterfall, 10 meters high, have ponds for bathing and a natural shower. Rivers and lakes are suitable for canoeing and rafting in the river rapids.
Travelers who are looking for a peaceful environment can hike in the forests and by fresh water beaches. The city also offers boat rides in the dam.

Piraju is 320 km of São Paulo (SP).
Car: Rodovia Castello Branco (SP-280) until Avaré, then take SP-255 and Rod. Raposo Tavares (SP-270), then drive 33 km to the access to the city.

Touristic City of Barra Bonita

Bathed by a virtually clean Tietê River, Barra Bonita's main attraction is its lock, the first built in South America, created to overcome the 26 meters of the hydroelectric power plant named after the city. Tourists can take rides in boats for 100, 300, 400 and 700 passengers.
The Praça do Teleférico (Cable Car Square) is another interesting venue, with attractions such as paddle boats in the artificial lake, kart track and the Trade Fair Center.
Downtown, there is the Trenzinho Simpatia train ride, the Jardineira and the Barra Bonita tram, which takes a tour around the city's main touristic sites, such as the Artesanato square, Tietê River Memorial and the historic Campos Salles bridge.

Barra Bonita is 278 km from São Paulo.
Car: Rodovia Castello Branco (SP-280) until the entrance to Botucatu, then drive on Rodovia Marechal Rondon (SP-300) until São Manuel and take SP-255 until Barra Bonita.

Jaguar - Panthera onca - Onça pintada 2nd male - Pantanal, Brazil

I received an invitation from my friend Steve Bird to join him and Gina Nichol on one of his Pantanal trips so I did... a no brainer! - great fun birding with Steve and Gina and their groups is always guaranteed (enhanced with Eduardo Patrial as a suber guide and cool cara) and this was not the exception adding a LOAD of lifers for me plus the orgasmic Jaguar experience!

After 10 or so days in Pantanal, Chapada dos Guimaraes and Serra das Araras with the Zoothera lovely group, I did Atlantic Forest birding Intervales State Park for a week with Luiz one of the greatest guides and finest birders in the area for a week adding those badly wanted big antbirds plus a PLETHORA of Atlantic Forest endemics.

To end a great trip, I traveled with my Colombian mate Gustavo Bravo towards Resende where we meet and enjoyed our days with Luciano Lima (AKA Luciano Passarinho!) birding the highlands and lowlands of the Serra da Mantequeira mainly at Itatiaia National Park and also the Serra do Mar looking for really rare and hidding-jewel birds thanks to Luciano endless bird-knowledge of his region!... loads of fun, some beers and great birds again for a week!

550 species of birds recorded from which 285 were life-birds for me... what a marvelous fuck@#ng trip!!!
