Presidio is a city in Presidio County, Texas, United States. It stands on the Rio Grande , on the opposite side of the U.S.–Mexico border from Ojinaga, Chihuahua. The population was 4,167 at the 2000 census, and had increased to 4,426 as of the 2010 US census.Presidio is on the Farm to Market Road 170, and U.S. Route 67, 18 miles south of Shafter in Presidio County. Presidio is about 250 miles southeast of El Paso, 240 miles southwest of Odessa, and 145 miles northeast of Chihuahua City.

The McDonald Observatory is an astronomical observatory located near the unincorporated community of Fort Davis in Jeff Davis County, Texas, United States. The facility is located on Mount Locke in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, with additional facilities on Mount Fowlkes, approximately 1.3 kilometers to the northeast. The observatory is part of the University of Texas at Austin. It is an organized research unit of the College of Natural Sciences. The observatory produces StarDate, a daily syndicated radio program consisting of short segments related to astronomy that airs on both National Public Radio and commercial radio stations — about 400 affiliates in all.

The Protected Area of Flora and Fauna Santa Elena Canyon is a protected area for plants and wildlife in the Mexican municipalities of Manuel Benavides and Ojinaga, in the state of Chihuahua. The Chisos Mountains are a mountain range located in the Big Bend area of West Texas, United States. The mountain range is contained entirely within the boundaries of Big Bend National Park. This is the only mountain range in the United States to be fully contained within the boundary of a national park. It is also the southernmost mountain range in the mainland United States. The highest point in the Chisos Mountain range is Emory Peak at 7,825 ft above sea level.

Davis Mountains State Park is a 2,709-acre state park located in the Davis Mountains in Jeff Davis County, Texas. The closest town is Fort Davis, Texas. The park elevation is between 5,000 and 6,000 ft above sea level. The original portion of the park was deeded to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department by a local family. Original improvements were accomplished by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 and the park was opened to the public around 1938. Campground facilities were added in 1967.

In this video, we give you a tour of Goliad State Park and Historic Site including Mission Espiritu Santo, an historic 18th century Spanish Mission reconstructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s, which is located inside the state park!

Scenic West Texas 40 Acres

Terlingua (Ghost Town) is a mining district in southwestern Brewster... more County, Texas, United States. It is located near the Rio Grande and the Texas villages of Lajitas and Study Butte, Texas, as well as the Mexican village of Santa Elena. The discovery of cinnabar, from which the metal mercury is extracted, in the mid-1880s, brought miners to the area, creating a city of 2,000 people. The only remnants of the mining days are a ghost town of the Howard Perry-owned Chisos Mining Company and several nearby capped and abandoned mines, most notably the California Hill, the Rainbow, the 248 and the Study Butte mines. The mineral terlinguaite was first found in the vicinity of California Hill

San Jacinto Monument, Battleship Texas, and Downtown Houston Drive Through

Houston is the fourth largest city (in terms of population) in the United States, and there is plenty to explore. There is so much to see that I will need to make many trips in the future to see everything. On this trip, I head down to the San Jacinto Monument and to Battleship Texas. I check out both although it was hard to see the top of the monument due to the low clouds and fog. The monument is a dedication to the Battle of San Jacinto back on April 21, 1836 which the outnumbered Texian Army led by General Sam Houston defeated the Mexican army and forced then-Mexican president Santa Anna to sign an independence treaty which led to the creation of the Republic of Texas. However, Texas would be later admitted to the United States in 1845. After visiting both places, I take a drive through downtown Houston.
