1. Lake Sylvia State ParkMontesano Lake Sylvia State Park is a 233-acre state-operated, public recreation area bordering the north edge of Montesano in Grays Harbor County, Washington. The park is located in dense temperate rain forest. The park offers swimming, hiking, camping, fishing, and non-motored boating. It was built around an old lumber mill pond, which was used for a few years to power the town's first electrical generation plant. The rustic dam that powered the mill and the power plant remains at the western end of the lake and feeds the lower reaches of Sylvia Creek. The park is home to a mixed flock of mallard ducks and Canada geese. A family of ospreys, as well as occasional bald eagles, also occupy the lake area. Abandoned Railroad | Vance Creek Bridge: How to Get There
MAP: OF EXACTLY HOW TO GET TO THE ONLY WAY ON THE BRIDGE/ VIADUCT: journey and fun times on the Vance Creek Viaduct, #ThatPNWBridge which is an abandoned railroad bridge located in Shelton, Washington. We went to the north side of the bridge first, which now has boards removed to detour people from climbing on it. So we drove around until we found the 1.5 mile trail to the south side of the bridge (details on finding the trial are in the Google Map link above).
Facts about the Vance Creek Bridge/ Viaduct: The bridge is the second highest railway arch bridge built in the United States, at 347 feet (106 meters) above a thick forest valley in Washington State’s Olympic peninsula. Constructed in 1929 for the Simpson Logging Company and built by the American Bridge Company, the bridge is now abandoned.

(0:25) The hike to the south side of the bridge (0:37) Crossing the creek, which is required to get to the bridge (1:06) Discovering the bridge (use Google Maps to stay on the trial) (1:16) Exploring the bridge, walking around, we ate lunch there, and sat on the edge. The views are stunning so we stayed for over an hour just taking it in.
