Niederheimbach is an Ortsgemeinde – a municipality belonging to a Verbandsgemeinde, a kind of collective municipality – in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The winegrowing centre belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Rhein-Nahe, whose seat is in Bingen am Rhein, although that town is not within its bounds. Since 2003, Niederheimbach has been part of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site.

1. Burg Sooneck Niederheimbach
Sooneck Castle is a castle in the upper middle valley of the Rhine, in the Mainz-Bingen district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located near the village of Niederheimbach between Bingen and Bacharach. Since 2002, Sooneck Castle has been part of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2. Burg Eltz Wierschem
Eltz Castle is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is still owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago. Bürresheim Castle , Eltz Castle and Lissingen Castle are the only castles on the left bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate which have never been destroyed.

This is part 1 of 12 capturing the scenery along the Rhine River and tributaries and/or canals between Germany and Kinderdijk, the Netherlands on July 2, 2016. This was all filmed during a Viking River Cruises Rhine Getaway cruise on the ship Viking Kara. Some parts are narrated. All 12 parts of this video occur in the Netherlands because the German border is at KM 865 and this video starts at KM 869. So everything you see in this part and the other 11 parts are all in the Netherlands on various waterways starting with the Rhine.
