Rothenburg ob der Tauber is where Germany’s Middle Ages have been preserved up to the present day with huge entrance gates and high walls that lead into the former imperial city. The High Gothic main church of Saint Jacob gleams with both the Twelve Messenger Altar and the Holy Blood Altar. Bavarian king, Ludwig The Second, made Füssen into a fairy tale place with Castle Neuschwanstein the realisation of his amazing world of fantasy. The castle was in construction for seventeen years and in every way the idyll of ancient German knighthood. The wealth of occidental history, art and culture makes a journey on the Romantic Road a most fascinating adventure into the past. A dream journey through a country and its history.

The Celts created a fortress that subsequent rulers gradually extended and the oldest church in Franconia, including a massive watchtower, continues to be protected by several huge walls. Tauberbischofsheim is one of the oldest cities in the popular Tauber Valley that was once completely walled. Missionary bishop, Boniface, founded Germany’s first women's monastery in Germany in 735 A.D. and installed a family member, Lioba, as abbess, who tutored the daughters of the nobility and the Free Francs. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is where Germany’s Middle Ages have been preserved up to the present day with huge entrance gates and high walls that lead into the former imperial city.
In 1868, Bavarian King Ludwig The Second had a dream come true in Allgäu, southern Germany: Castle Neuschwanstein, the realisation of his amazing world of fantasy.
