Wiesloch , is a city in Germany, in northern Baden-Württemberg. It is situated 13 kilometres south of Heidelberg. After Weinheim, Sinsheim and Leimen it is the fourth largest city of the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis and is in the north-central area near Heidelberg with its neighbouring town Walldorf with which it shares Wiesloch-Walldorf station. Also in the vicinity of Wiesloch are the cities and towns of Dielheim, Malsch , Mühlhausen, Rauenberg and Sankt Leon-Rot. The Technoseum is a technology museum in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with displays covering the industrialisation of the south-western regions of the country. The museum building was designed by the Berlin architect, Ingeborg Kuhler. Its planning and construction period lasted from 1982 to 1990.

Visitors who walk through the building from top to bottom will experience a journey in time from the beginning of the industrial revolution in the state of Baden-Württemberg to the present day.
Stands portraying the technical, social and political changes since the 18th century include those on clocks, paper manufacture and weaving.

There are displays of living and working premises as well as machinery from the fields of industry, transport and the office. These displays enable the visitor to gain a graphic understanding of the far-reaching changes in living and working conditions right up to the present.

The Elementa workshop complements the themes and exhibits of technological, economic and social history shown to date. It is not limited to covering basic scientific principles, but also shows the technical inventions which resulted from various scientific experiments.

Running from end-to-end through the middle of the museum is a dual-gauge metre gauge and standard gauge railway track. On this track a fireless locomotive operates steam-haul trips outside of the museum, over a bridge and then back into the museum again.

Since 2006, between May and October each year a Feldbahn narrow gauge trains runs in a 1.3-kilometre-long (0.8 mi) loop around the Technoseum park grounds. The track gauge is 600 millimetres (2 ft) and there are two regular small diesel locomotives. One locomotive was built in 1961 and worked mining peat in Schleswig-Holstein; the other one was built in 1964 and matches a locomotive used at the nearby Tonwaren-Industrie Wiesloch brickworks.

Die Altstadt Bambergs - das UNESCO Weltkulturerbe erleben

Wussten Sie eigentlich, dass Bamberg den größten unversehrt erhaltenen historischen Stadtkern in Deutschland besitzt? Da wundert es auch nicht, dass die Bamberger Altstadt seit 1993 als Weltkulturerbe in die Liste der UNESCO eingetragen ist. Die Stadt am Rande der Fränkischen Schweiz fasziniert durch ihr einzigartiges historisches Stadtbild, das in mehr als 1000 Jahren gewachsen ist und den Besucher augenblicklich gefangen nimmt. Kunstsinnige Betrachter geraten angesichts der reichhaltigen sakralen und weltlichen Baukunst ins Staunen und Schwärmen.

Das Wahrzeichen Bambergs ist der Kaiserdom, dessen Bau auf das Jahr 1007 n. Chr. zurückgeht. Der viertürmige Sakralbau steht auf einem der sieben Hügel Bambergs und ist das bedeutendste Bauwerk im ganzen Umkreis. Das größte Rätsel des Domes ist der Bamberger Reiter, dessen Identität und Urheber trotz zahlreicher Nachforschungen bis heute nicht geklärt ist. Direkt mit dem Dom verbunden war einst die Alte Hofhaltung, deren Mittelpunkt der Kaiser- und Bischofsplatz bildet. In unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich die prächtige Neue Residenz, in der heute die Staatsbibliothek und die Staatsgalerie untergebracht sind.

Sehenswert ist auch das Alte Rathaus, das mitten in der Regnitz steht und durch zwei Brücken mit dem Ufer verbunden ist, und - ebenfalls an der Regnitz - die Concordia, ein schönes Wasserschloss im Barockstil. Richtig romantisch ist die malerische Kulisse an der ehemaligen Fischersiedlung, einer Reihe von hübsch geschmückten, mittelalterlichen Fachwerkhäusern, die auf Holzpfählen stehen und kleine Balkone oder winzige Vorgärten besitzen. Klein Venedig wird dieser Stadtteil liebevoll genannt, hier steigt auch alljährlich im August das bekannteste Fest der Stadt, die traditionelle Sandkerwa.
Überhaupt sind die Bamberger traditionsliebende und feierfreudige Leute. Beliebter Treffpunkt bei Jung wie Alt ist der Grüne Markt, das Herz der Dom- und Residenzstadt, wo das Stadtleben pulsiert. Reges Treiben herrscht auch auf dem Maximiliansplatz, dessen reichhaltiger Obst- und Gemüsemarkt überregional bekannt ist und Bambergs Ruf als Gärtnerhochburg unterstreicht. Berühmt sind die Bamberger aber vor allem für ihre lange, vielfältige und eigenständige Biertradition. Gleich neun Brauereien gibt es in der Stadt, am bekanntesten ist das Rauchbier. Sie sollten es nicht versäumen, dieses Bamberger Original einmal zu probieren...
