GERMANY: St Maurus Chapel near Beuron [HD]
The St Maurus Chapel was the first architectural project of Father Desiderius Lenz, in Beuronese art.
Peter Desiderius Lenz (1832--1928) was a Benedictine monk and along with Gabriel Wuger a founding member of the Beuron Art School.
Beuronese art is principally known for its murals with muted, tranquil and seemingly mysterious colouring. It was based on the elements of ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and early Christian art.
The chapel is situated near Beuron, at the Danube break-through at the Swabian Jura in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

GERMANY: Sigmaringen, city castle [HD]
Sigmaringen Castle dominates the skyline of the town of Sigmaringen. The castle was rebuilt following a fire in 1893, and only the towers of the earlier medieval fortress remain.
The modern Schloss Sigmaringen owes its current size and appearance to three construction periods:
- The medieval castle from the 11th to 13th centuries, built under the Counts of Sigmaringen-Spitzenberg and Spitzenberg-Helfenstein.
- The renovations and expansion of the castle under Counts of Werdenberg.
- The renovations to make the castle into a princely residence for the Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen
The castle and museums may be visited throughout the year, but only on guided tours (in German only). The castle rooms, fully furnished, give the visitor a taste of the lifestyle of the nobility in previous centuries. The Hall of Weapons displays one of the largest private weapon collections in Europe.
Sigmaringen is located on the southern edge of the Swabian Alb, a plateau region in southern Baden-Württemberg. The castle was built below the narrow Donau (English: Danube) river valley.

Places to see in ( Aachen - Germany ) Markt
Places to see in ( Aachen - Germany ) Markt
The Marketplace in Aachen is right in front of the ancient city hall. the famous statue of Charlemagne on the water fountain is also located on Markt. The Markt is a perfect place for relaxing. You can hang out with friends, go get a nice beer or have ice cream. This is especially true during summer, however, in winter the Christmas market will be at the market, too. Since Pontstraße ends right at the Markt, you can easily decide to go to bars from the market, too.
Markt is the central square of a relatively small city of just over 250,000 inhabitants. Most historic building bordering the square were severely damaged by RAF bombings during WOII, but the most important ones like House Löwenstein and City hall were well restored.
The market in the center of Aachen is a cosy place to be. When you are lucky, you can see a wedding party of people coming out of the old 'Rathaus'. The fountain on the market has a statue of Charlemagne.
It is a beautiful market square located in the city center. Especially Tuesday and Thursday you can get high quality food/ veggies/ groceries. During advent time there’s the Christmas market which is really beautiful and offers a lot of different kinds of food and handmade presents.
