Bettina Flitner porträtiert im Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt 25 Frauen, die in ihren Fachgebieten zur absoluten Weltspitze zählen.
In einer Welt voller Bilder gibt es zwar allerlei Abziehbilder von Frauen, aber offenbar wenig Fotografien. Diese Erfahrung machte die Fotografin Bettina Flitner, als sie versuchte, ein Foto von Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard aufzutreiben. Egal, bei welcher Agentur sie auch anfragte: Fehlanzeige. Und das, obwohl die Wissenschaftlerin gerade als erste Deutsche den Nobelpreis für Medizin erhalten hatte.
Konnte es tatsächlich sein, dass Frauen, die mehr als die Hälfte der Weltbevölkerung stellen, in einem Bereich wie der Forschung überhaupt nicht vorkommen? Und wenn doch: Wie sahen sie aus? Wie der klassische Blaustrumpf, der schon als gefährlich galt, wenn er nur las? Und woran forschten sie überhaupt?
Die Fotografin Bettina Flitner hat Mathematikerinnen und Naturwissenschaftlerinnen an ihren oftmals außergewöhnlichen Arbeitsplätzen porträtiert. Alle abgebildeten Frauen arbeiten in Spitzenfunktionen von Wissenschaft und Forschung. Wie immer blickt Flitner dabei hinter die Kulissen: Sie stellt Forscherin und Objekt in einen neuen Kontext und hält so mal ironisch, mal distanziert, aber immer einfühlsam Momente fest, die sonst vor der Öffentlichkeit verborgen bleiben.
Die Fotoausstellung ist Teil eines vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung geförderten Projektes des FrauenMediaTurm.
