On a field in Western Germany we found these three abandoned tanks. They’re most likely American World War 2 Tanks: two M47 Pattons and a M7B1 Priest. We don’t know what happened and how they might get there. But what we know… Once they've brought devastation, but know they’re bringing life. Nature is reclaiming: These tanks are now home for flora and fauna. It’s great to see what can grow from something so bad.

War is shit - get used to it.

Urbex is a series of cinematic productions by BWT (Broken Window Theory). Every episode focuses on a new abandoned building which might be lost but not forgotten. It's not about to show the different locations in detail instead it's about to show the character of a place, the atmosphere - the beauty of decay. The viewer shall get a first impression and feel the urge to explore these places by his own.

Germany: US Army Base Deactivated At The End of The Cold War

This video was made in June 2009 where I was stationed from June 1966 till Dec 1968, our 3rd Recon Squadron 14th/11th Armored Cav Kaserne was in Bad Hersfeld, Germany and was closed in 1993. I was there with many others for our 25 June 2009 Cold War Monument Dedication that took place in our former kaserne. More of our Cold War History at thedeitz.com.
