Bottrop is a city in west central Germany, on the Rhine-Herne Canal, in North Rhine-Westphalia. Located in the Ruhr industrial area, Bottrop adjoins Essen, Oberhausen, Gladbeck and Dorsten. The city had been a coal-mining and rail center and contains factories producing coal-tar derivatives, chemicals, textiles, and machinery. Bottrop grew as a mining center beginning in the 1860s, was chartered as a city in 1921, and bombed during the Oil Campaign of World War II. In 1975 it unified with the neighbour communities of Gladbeck and Kirchhellen, but Gladbeck left it in 1976, leading to Kirchhellen becoming a district of Bottrop as Bottrop-Kirchhellen.

Movie Park Germany - Excalibur – Secrets of the Dark Forest - Onride (Camcorder & Licht POV)

Beleuchtetes Onride auf dem Rapid River „Excalibur – Secrets of the Dark Forest“ im Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. Die Anlage vom Typ „Speed Rapid River“ der schweizerischen Intamin AG wurde im Jahr 1996 unter dem Namen „Die Unendliche Geschichte“ eröffnet. Von 2005 bis 2017 hieß die Attraktion „Mystery River“. Seit der zweiten Umthematisierung im Jahr 2018 wird die Attraktion unter dem Namen „Excalibur – Secrets of the Dark Forest“ betrieben. Diesmal geht es um das Schwert Excalibur, welches verschwunden ist und von den Besuchern während des Passierens des magischen Flusses und des dunklen Waldes wieder gefunden werden muss. Im Wartebereich werden die Besucher von dem Zauberer Merlin über eine Projektion empfangen, der diesen mitteilt, dass das Schwert Excalibur verschwunden ist und wiedererlangt werden muss. Unter der Projektionsfläche ist ein Schwerthalter an der Wand - ohne Schwert.

Nachdem die Besucher in das Boot eingestiegen sind, wird dieses über ein Transportband nach oben gezogen, wobei an vier hintereinander folgenden Bildschirmen der Zauberer Merlin erscheint und sagt: Von hieran seid ihr auf euch allein gestellt. Die verwuschelnden Kreaturen des dunklen Waldes lauern am Ufer dieses magischen Flusses. Euer Mut wird euch leiten. Folgt dem Strom. Haltet euch fest und bleibt standhaft. Danach geht die Fahrt draußen über den künstlichen Fluss los und dann vorbei am großen Steingesicht, dem Riesenpilz, am Einhorn und unter den Tunnel zum Spinnwebenwald. Anschließend fährt das Boot über einen langen und großen Aal vorbei, der die Besucher über seinen Mund mit Wasser bespritzt. Es folgt danach ein Abschnitt mit abgeholzten Bäumen und aufgehangenen Skeletten, bevor es wieder rein in das Gebäude geht. Nach einer kurzen Fahrt in Dunkelheit, kommt man an einem beleuchteten Elfenbeinturm vorbei, an dessen Fuße sich das Schwer Excalibur befindet. Somit ist das vermisste Schwert wieder gefunden worden. Es erscheinen zur Feier Wasserfontänen und der Soundtrack wird abgespielt. Zum Schluss bedankt sich König Arthur bei den Besuchern, der mit dem Schwert in der Hand neben dem Fluss steht: Meine Ritter! Ihr habt es geschafft. Ihr habt Excalibur zurückerlangt und die Macht des dunklen Waldes besiegt.

Die Fahrt wurde zugunsten des besseren Tons mit einem Camcorder ohne Wasserschutzhülle in einem von Besuchern unbesetzem Boot aufgenommen.

Illuminated and visitor-free Onride on the Rapid River at the Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. The Speed Rapid River system of the Swiss company Intamin AG was opened in 1996 under the name The Neverending Story. From 2005 to 2017 the attraction was called Mystery River. Since the second renovation in 2018, the attraction is operated under the name Excalibur - Secrets of the Dark Forest. This time, it's about the sword Excalibur, which has disappeared and must be rediscovered by the visitors as they pass through the magical river and the dark forest. In the waiting area, the visitors are received by the wizard Merlin via a projection that tells them that the sword Excalibur has disappeared and must be recovered. Below the screen is a sword holder on the wall - without a sword.

The ride was recorded in favor of the better sound with a camcorder without water jacket in a boat unoccupied by visitors.
