Hallerbos blue forest in Belgium Travel videos
Hallerbos - a picturesque place, which is a beech forest area of 552 hectares (5.5 square kilometers). He pitched in the Belgian municipality of Halle on the border between Flanders and Wallonia, a 30-minute drive south of Brussels. Forest is known for its extraordinary beauty that envelops him in the spring - a year in late April and early May, several hectares of forest carpets the gorgeous thick carpet of millions of bells (wild hyacinth), creating intricate patterns of all shades of blue. Ultramarine veil extends deep into the forest, as far as the eye can see, circling around the trees, carpeting the valley and beautifying the banks of streams. It is very popular among the Belgians, and among foreign connoisseurs.
In the spring, when the leaves begin to revive beeches, Hallerbos is particularly picturesque and mystical. The first 7-10 days tender leaves have a light green color, very beautiful combined with flowering bells. Through the curtain of the young leaves of the sunlight still reaches pour freely and colors, creating a bright blue-purple color.
The special charm of the Blue Forest acquires at dawn - at this time the area envelops morning and dense fog further emphasizes its mysterious and surreal atmosphere. To complete the feeling wonderful natural feature is best visited early in the morning or evening, when the bells strongest flavor. Collect flowers on the territory of the forest is prohibited.
The presence of such a large number of colors suggests that this place has a fairly long history. Carpet of bells growing here for centuries, and the trees growing in the forest no relation to this figure does not have. Earlier Hallerbos profit part of Europe's largest beech forest, which stretches along the south of Brussels. During the First World War it was destroyed, although some ancient oak and beech trees have survived the devastation and is still found in a wooded area. After the war, has implemented a program for greening local areas, the results of which can be seen today in Hallerbose.
Throughout the year, the main attraction of the commune Halle is popular for horse riding, hiking and cycling, which throughout the forest laid great routes. Naturally, the maximum traffic occurs during the spring period when Hallerbos turns into a scene out of some fairy tale.
