Places You Wouldn't Want To Live in The U.K.
When most people imagine the United Kingdom, they think of London, wry humor and polite people. It might seem unthinkable that Great Britain has some real dung piles among its treasures but these 5 cities will have you wondering why there is a “Great” in front of “Britain”.
At number 5. Sandwell
The available jobs in this West Midlands town are so poorly paid that the average resident has zero disposable income. The good news for locals is that Sandwell has a pretty high mortality rate, so they don’t have to suffer for very long.
At Number 4. Gwent Valleys
No matter which metric you choose to measure Gwent Valleys scores poorly. Crime? Check. Poor healthcare? Check. A-hole teenagers all around? Oh yeah. In a country that’s filled with coastline and rolling hills, Gwent Valleys has none of that. It’s just the worst.
At Number 3. High Wycombe
Petty crime and drug use are present; as is a low employment rate. The little money High Wycombe does have it spends on the schools which is great. Of course, that doesn’t do the average tourist any good.
At Number 2. Southampton
Southampton is simply filled with half-destroyed buildings blotting the landscape. To be fair, the place was bombed in World War II. That is a pretty solid excuse, but on the other hand, they’ve had the better part of eighty years to get the place back in order …
And at number 1. Morecambe
In the 1930s, luminaries like Coco Chanel used to hang out in Morecambe These days, Morecambe is more known for its dilapidation. The coastline outside the city is stunning, but if you’re being completely honest, coasts aren’t exactly a point of pride, and neither is Morecambe.
Where do you think the worst place in Great Britain is?

Abandoned Prison Tour [Guelph Correctional Centre]
For about a month I worked nighttime security, Midnight-Noon, at the abandoned Guelph Correctional Centre. This is a quick walk around of the main floor. The upper floors are much more deteriorated and unsafe. I don't believe in ghosts, but working overnight is creepy as hell and I understand why people are tricked into believing in hauntings. The best way I can describe it, is working 12 hours alone, and walking around such a large building, you begin to almost yearn to see someone or something. So every noise becomes intensified. You turn corners and almost just expect to see someone because its kind of unnatural to be so alone in such a large building. I would freak myself out because I literally just expected to see people. Imagine walking around a massive office building, and never seeing anyone. You'd expect to look in cubicles and see people, and your mind might turn a shadow or a chair into a person for a split second.
Walk around is just the very basic of the first floor. I walk the generic cell blocks, didnt go into the Kitchen, Gymnasium, or Office area. Other areas not shown are the various shops like Laundry, a big area where I think uniforms were sewn, a mechanic shop and more. They are separate from the main prison building but connected by a long underground maintenance tunnel.
Tour:
Starts at what is now the secruity office, and was the main guard shack that controlled visitation and access between the office & prison. New prisoners were actually brought in through the basement (an area that was recently featured in Kick Ass 2, where the Dad is in prison!).
I first enter the psych ward/block for the criminally insane. One cell in particular has crazy carvings all over the wall, and I enter it. Its the only one like that. Though I was told a lot of the graffiti and stuff you see in the prison now is actually left by corrections officers and police who still use the facility for training.
Then into another cell block which consisted of common rooms for the less violent offenders I was told.
Though another guard area and into the Infirmary area (morgue was in the basement and the only elevator led there).
Have to walk back out of the medical wing and now entering a back corridor that had two cafeterias. Room with blue mats was the cafeteria for the insane. Main one is the red tile room with a sniper post you can see cut out above the one doorway. You can see the equipment used for training.
Out of the cafeteria and you see the kitchen to the right, it had an area to pick up your food. The kitchen is in bad shape nd half the lights dont work so I didnt go in.
Next bunch of rooms were the Library and a room where prisoners would go to get soap and stuff. I cant remember the name.
I then walk past the kitchen entrance, the gated closed doors. Into a back guard office where a door alarm was going off. I turned it off. Past that area and down some stairs led to the gymnasium. It again is in bad shape, so I avoided the area.
Now into the normal prison and normal cells. At one point I look down a long hallway I didnt walk, it was full of common rooms again. And back to the guard shack.

Where to find the world’s best maple syrup
Whether it’s drizzled over pancakes, used to make sweets or even infused in a hot drink, the ways to enjoy maple syrup are endless. If you’re looking for a holiday that allows you to indulge in this nectar of the gods, look no further than these five destinations.
1. Elmira, Ontario for the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival
The world’s largest single-day maple syrup festival takes place in Elmira, Ontario on the 7th of April.
This event has taken place annually for over 50 years, drawing visitors from near and far to explore the town’s sugar bushes and learn how maple syrup is made. Make sure you save room for a plate of pancakes topped with a generous portion of Elmira’s famous maple syrup.
Stay in the nearby city of Waterloo, just a 20-minute drive from Elmira, at the Courtyard by Marriott Waterloo St. Jacobs.
2. St. Albans, Vermont for the Vermont Maple Festival
In April of each year, the city of St. Albans comes together to celebrate everything maple. Over the course of the weekend, festival-goers can explore exhibitions and watch recipe demonstrations all dedicated to the sweet stuff. The weekend is wrapped up with a pancake breakfast and the crowning of the festival’s Maple King and Maple Queen.
La Quinta Inn & Suites St. Albans is situated walking distance from the city centre, making it easy to get to and from the festivities.
3. Dover Plains, New York for the Maple Weekend
During Maple Weekend, sugar houses across the state of New York open their doors to visitors interested in seeing first-hand how maple syrup is created, from tree to table. Located in Dover Plains, Madava Farms is a modern facility with an extensive line of maple products and even an on-site restaurant. For a truly unique experience, be sure to check out their moonlight mapling sessions on Saturday evenings.
Stay at Hillbrook Country House, a splendid, classical mansion with a homely feel in the village of Millbrook, New York.
4. Greenwood, Maine for the Maine Maple Sunday
Each year, the fourth Sunday of May marks Maine Maple Sunday in the town of Greenwood. With free tastings and demonstrations taking place at numerous sugar houses, this day is a treat for residents and visitors alike. Located in Maine’s western foothills, Velvet Hollow Sugar Works at Dunham Farm has a dedicated gluten-free sugar house that offers a wide selection of products as well as cooking classes, seminars and tours.
A 20-minute drive from Greenwood in Bethel, the Bethel Inn Resort offers on-site sporting activities as well as a spa to relax in after getting your fill of maple products.
5. Chester, New Hampshire in the New Hampshire Maple Weekend
For one weekend in March, 60 sugar houses play host to the New Hampshire Maple Weekend. Watch the maple syrup production process in action and see how sugar houses today are mixing modern methods with ancient tricks to produce our favourite maple treats. Located in the city of Chester, Ryan’s Sugar Shack was opened in 2013 by 13-year-old Ryan Neal. What began as a hobby of tapping trees in his backyard has transformed into a 1000+ tap operation and full-scale sugar house, open to the public for tours.
Just a 15-minute drive from Chester, the Sleep Inn Londonderryhas an indoor pool and hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a day at the festival.

Day Trip to Mohonk Preserve, Upstate NY
Mohonk Preserve located about 90 miles from the New York on the slopes of the Shawangunk Mountains, place is so beautiful and unusual, so I decided to make other video. In the summer of 1869, twin brothers Albert and Alfred Smiley fell in love with the spot and purchased Lake Mohonk and established the Mohonk Mountain House. The Mohonk Preserve is largest New York State's visitor and member-supported nature preserve, with 165,000 annual visitors and 8,000 acres (32 km2).

Pinehurst Lake to Aldershot - Rural Ontario Bike Tour - Day 9 of 9
This video summarizes day 9 of my 9 day solo bicycle trip through South-Western Ontario, Canada. The clips in this video were filmed on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
Starting at my campsite at Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area I rode out of the park and Pinehurst Road. I turned right onto Glen Morris Rd W. After crossing over the Grand River, I turned right onto East River Rd and then turned left onto Dunbar St after passing by the Glen Morris United Church. After a short stretch along Princess St, I turned onto Glen Morris Rd E and headed east. I passed by the Tim Horton Foundation's Onondaga Farms on this road then turned right onto St George Rd and headed south. I continued riding east when I got to McLean School Rd. I once again briefly jogged south when I got to Sager Rd, then continued east along Concession 4 W all the way to Highway 6. After briefly heading South East, I turned left onto Parkside Dr and entered the community of Waterdown. I turned right onto Hamilton St N, then turned left onto Dundas St. I took a right when I arrived at Mills St and descended down the Niagara Escarpment along Waterdown Rd. This took me directly to the Aldershot GO station in Burlington, which has train service back to Downtown Toronto where I live.
Strava for Day 9:
The bike I used for this trip is a New York made Linear Recumbent Bike which I believe is from around 2004. I carried my gear in 2 Giant Waterproof Panniers, and mounted my tent and sleeping pad on the top of the rack.
