Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was a French Jesuit settlement in Wendake, the land of the Wendat, near modern Midland, Ontario, from 1639 to 1649. It was the first European settlement in what is now the province of Ontario. Eight missionaries from Sainte-Marie were martyred, and were canonized by the Catholic Church in 1930. Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1920. A reconstruction of the mission now operates as a living museum. A nearby historic site, Carhagouha, marks the spot where an earlier Récollet missionary to Wendake, Fr. Historic Woodside Home, Kitchener Ontario

Woodside's 5 hectare (12 acre) grounds were the boyhood home (1886-1893) of Canada's 10th prime minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King. British lawyer James Colquhoun built the original home in 1853. Parks Canada restored this national historic site as it was during the King family's 1893 residency. The landscape and close-up images are accompanied by 2 period compositions: Chit-Chat (Babillage) by Ernest Gillet, and Songe d'Automne by Archibald Joyce.
