Looking for the best things to do in Quebec City? Click play on our travel guide to get an insider’s peek at this Canadian destination.
You don’t need to go all the way to France to say “Bonjour” and nibble on croissants. Quebec maintains strong ties to its French roots, which date back to 1608. In fact, the town’s official language is French and it’s even home to a replica of Norte Dame.
While you’re in town, mosey around the cafes and shops in North America’s oldest retail district, and visit the Musee de la Civilisation. Embark on Quebec City tours around the colonial buildings in Dufferin Terrace, the history at Battlefields Park, and the stunning beauty of Montmorency Falls. From the Saint Lawrence River to Fontaine de Tourny, there are endless attractions to experience in Quebec’s capital city.
When you’re looking to indulge in a little European flair, without leaving North America, explore Quebec City. To further fuel your adventures, check out our travel guide video and pick up more tips and recommendations.

Time Lapse: Portland, Maine through 5 States to Montréal, Québec
July 15, 2017 - They said it couldn't be done...but they were wrong!
In just six hours I traverse through five states (and one Canadian province)! Starting in Portland, Maine, I took the long way back to Montréal through New Hampshire, Massachusetts (at the very fringe of the Boston metro area), Vermont, and the northeast corner of New York state back to La Belle Province of Québec.
Along the way I take a few side trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine; a few Fallout 4 references as I briefly touch upon the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; getting lost looking for lunch in White River Junction, Vermont; a quick drive-through of Burlington, the largest city in Vermont and stomping ground to Senator Bernie Sanders; and finally, visiting the lake monster Champ on the shores of Lake Champlain on the Vermont/New York border.
Once back in Canada on a beautiful Saturday evening, I pass through downtown Montréal, pay homage to my Montréal Canadiens of the NHL at their home arena, the Bell Centre, and then out west to Dorval, near the airport, for my final night away on this adventure.

This video is based on the experiences I had while visiting the major tourist attractions in Quebec City. In earlier video you saw me visiting Montmorency falls. In this video you can see me visiting the Old Quebec city, Chateau Frontenac, Taking a ferry from Quebec city to Levis, watching a short movie based on the history of Quebec and Canada. I stayed in Hotel Marriot which is in the Old Quebec city and most of the worth visiting places in Quebec city are located around it. And finally a few words for my travel companion Barkha Singh. Quebec City Weekend Trip - Canadian Cities Vlog
Quebec City remains to be my favourite city in all of Canada. It's European charm, mixed with its lengthy and beautiful francophone culture keep me dreaming of Quebec and coming back! Quebec City is about a 4 hour drive from Ottawa, and makes for an excellent weekend trip (though you could fill weeks of time with all of the things there are to do there!).
This video shows the highlights from our Summer 2015 trip to Quebec City. Beyond taking the city in through day and evening walks, we decided to take a trip to the Montmorency Falls, we had a caricature made, and we tried as much Quebecois food (maple taffy is always great!) as we could handle!
I rave about Quebec to anyone who will listen. This is a great place to go to if you've never visited Canada before, since it mixes metropolitan charm with history, and is a foodie's paradise.

Maritime of My Life (Pt. 20) - Château Frontenac and Quebec City by Sunset
July 2, 2017 - On my final night in Quebec City, the sun finally came out in full force. I spent some time ambling down the streets of the old town, a brief tour through the oppulent Château Frontenac, leading up to a cheap but delish dinner at the Chic Shack where half my face nearby got burnt off.
At least I got my dose of Vitamin D!
Following dinner I take a stroll along Terrasse Dufferin and around the Citadel, ending up at Parc du Bastion-de-la-Reine. Positioned between the north side of the Citadelle and the streets of Vieux Québec, the park affords fantastic views of Quebec City and the ever-widening Fleuve Saint-Laurent as it continues to flow onward to the Atlantic Ocean.
What a gorgeous evening in the capital of La Belle Province.
