    The Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung National Historic Site of Canada, or Manitou Mounds, is Canada's premier concentration of ancient burial mounds. Manitou Mounds National Historic Site, as it was once called, is a vast network of 30 village sites and 15 ancient burial mounds constructed from approximately 5000 BP during the Archaic Period, to 360 BP; it is one of the most significant centres of early habitation and ceremonial burial in Canada. It is located on a river stretch known as Long Sault Rapids on the north side of Rainy River, approximately 54 kilometres east of Fort Frances, in the Rainy River District of Northwestern Ontario, Canada off highway 11. It was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1969.

    Fort Assiniboine is a hamlet in northwest Alberta, Canada, within Woodlands County. It is located along the north shore of the Athabasca River at the junction of Highway 33 and Highway 661. It is approximately 39 kilometres northwest of Barrhead, 62 kilometres southeast of Swan Hills and 91 kilometres northeast of Whitecourt. Fort Assiniboine was founded as a trading post by the Hudson's Bay Company and became a stopping point along the Klondike Trail. It gets its name from the Assiniboine people. The fort itself no longer exists, but the land on which it stood is designated as a National Historic Site for its archaeological value. The hamlet, built on and around the site of the fort is a now a local hub for the surrounding agricultural region.

    Huskie the Muskie is the nickname of a 40-foot-tall outdoor sculpture depicting a muskellunge in Kenora, Ontario's McLeod Park. The first Huskie was constructed in 1967 as a potential Canadian Centennial project by Jules Horvath and Bob Selway from Deluxe Signs and Displays under the direction of the Kenora Chamber of Commerce. Since then the effigy has received national recognition in part due to its size and position alongside the Trans-Canada Highway. The original was rebuilt in 1995. A call to the public was made for a suitable name for the giant fish and from the hundreds of entries received the name Huskie the Muskie was agreed upon by the committee.
