Discover Ontario & Rancho Cucamonga in the heart of Southern California. By choosing the Greater Ontario as a base for meetings, conventions, and vacations, you can see more and stress less. Westbound visitors will be amazed at the number of leisurely opportunities within a short drive. Need a theme park? Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios are all easily accessible.
Hoping to kick back and relax? It's only a quick trip to many of the famous Orange and Los Angeles county beaches. Star gazing on the itinerary? Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, and the Griffith Park Observatory are reachable within an hour from the Greater Ontario area. So are the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, the Queen Mary and Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, the Santa Monica Pier, USC and UCLA campuses, and dozens of museums. Both the Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon presidential libraries also are within an easy commute to and from the Greater Ontario area.

Hike The Big Horn Mine Trail & Explore An Abandoned Mine
The area surrounding Big Horn Mine was home to mountaineer Charles Vincent Dougherty, an American Civil War veteran who fled Arizona after murdering three men who were plotting to jump his claim. Charles lived a life of seclusion in the San Gabriel Mountains and started going by “Vincent” to keep a low profile. He discovered the Big Horn Mine in the late 1800s and it was named after the sheep he was hunting in the area. After a tragic bear attack, Charles Vincent Dougherty succumbed to his injuries in a Los Angeles Hospital, but not before confessing his murderous past to his doctor.
Today, the Big Horn Mountain Trail is a beautiful 3.9-mile easy to moderate hike in the Angeles National Forest. It starts near the trailhead to Mt. Baden Powell and the trail offers stunning vistas of Mt. Baldy along the way. The payoff is the now abandoned Big Horn Mine at the end of the trail. If you're feeling adventurous, you may dare to enter the mine shaft and explore the vast expanse of abandoned mine tunnels.
Here's how to get there:
**WARNING** If you plan on exploring the mine tunnels, use caution and common sense. Abandoned mines are extremely dangerous and the hazards of tunnel collapse, arsenic exposure, and getting lost are a very real possibility. Proceed at your own risk.

Dana Point Harbor Seasonal Waterfall
The Dana Point Waterfall is a fun attraction that is only seen after a good rain. Normally, when the rain falls, the locals come out to see a small beautiful waterfall, but in 2017 there was so much rain that it became a gushing site to see. We went on Jan 22 and were blown away by how awesome the experience was. Be sure to check it out next time there is a good rain.
