Aguanga is a census-designated place located within the Inland Empire, Riverside County, California. It is located about 18 miles east of Temecula and 22 miles south-southeast of Hemet. Aguanga lies at an elevation of 1955 feet . As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 1,128.

Sunnylands, the former Annenberg Estate, located in Rancho Mirage, California, is a 200-acre estate currently run by The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, a not-for-profit organization. The property was owned by Walter and Leonore Annenberg until 2009 and had been used as a winter retreat by the couple from 1966, when the house was completed. The property is rich with historical significance, according to the city of Rancho Mirage, which declared Sunnylands an historic site in 1990. Located at Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope Drives, the property has been the vacation site of numerous celebrities and public officials. Sunnylands is to some extent regarded as the Camp David of the West.

Dana Point is a city located in southern Orange County, California. The population was 33,351 at the 2010 census. It has one of the few harbors along the Orange County coast, and with ready access via State Route 1, it is a popular local destination for surfing. The city was named after the headland of Dana Point, which was in turn named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr., author of Two Years Before the Mast, which included a description of the area. Dana described the locale, including neighboring San Juan Capistrano, as the only romantic spot on the coast. 452-Sage CA, Little Known Ghost Town in the Inland Empire

Sage, CA is a small sparsely populated rural suburb of Hemet. While not technically a ghost town, it does have elements of abandonment and ghost town like features. The most prominent historic ruin, is that of a late 1800’s, early 1900’s adobe structure.

The story behind the old adobe appears to be lost to history. The adobe is now protected by a barbed wire fence.

Next to the adobe building were at least two wooden buildings that stood along-side the structure. There is speculation that this may have been a stage stop during the 1849 California Gold Rush and route from Winchester, San Jacinto and Hemet to Warner Springs and onto San Diego or Yuma Az.

Ranchers from Auld to the west, would pass through Sage when the Rawson grade was impassable due to the rains.

South of the adobe ruin lies a large open field. A closer look will reveal a large number of concrete foundations, stone walls, a well, and collapsed buildings.

There is no factual details surrounding these ruins. Walking through the rubble brings to mind a small one time thriving business district.

A turn of the 19th century newspaper article reported, “Sage was said to be advancing with rumors of a store and blacksmith shop coming in the near future”.

By the looks of Sage today, this little town is but a nearly lost memory, of the distance past.
