Arnaud Petit Climbs The Forgotten Trad Classic 'Natilik' | Céüse, Ep. 3
BUY EPIC GEAR, TESTED BY THE BEST: GoPro, Sony, DJI, ION, Magicam, Optrix, Hitcase and more
Céüse is arguably the most well-known sport climbing cliff in the world and its walls boast some of the hardest routes ever climbed. With such a plethora of hard, bolted climbs on offer, it's easy to understand why visiting climbers choose to focus on these rather than the crag's more esoteric classics. However, when you live right next to a climbing spot, as Arnaud Petit and his wife Stephanie Bodet do with Céüse, you get to know all that a crag has to offer; from its most challenging lines to its easier classics. 'Natilik' (6a+) fits firmly into the latter of these two categories, with bags of character and incredible positions in spite of its modest grade. The line is climbed predominantly on trad gear, with some long runouts and a final, unconventional ledge shuffle to make it extra memorable.

CN 473--Estcourt, QC--May 15, 2010
Further down on Quebec route 285 east of CN Escourt siding was this surprise waiting to enter the siding a mile or so to the west to wait for 120. X473 is run when needed to take the heat off of 305, both of which stop in Joffre, QC.
On Rue de la Fabrique (Pelletier sub mileage 57.84), 473 is moving again with:
2589 (C44-9W)
4141 (GP9RM)
4785 (GP38-2(W))
No car count, as my batteries died before the end. Sorry.
CN305+L535 w/Luc n Rocky - McGivney NB - Mar-11-11; Prt.- 3-3.mpg
First, this is a re-upload of this video. I have added a few more notes and completely replaced the CN L535 section at the end as it was not the March 11th one. Unfortunately the comments will be lost.
CN M305 is probably my favourite train. And today is a special day. Two fellow Yahoo Group member friends are the crew today. Luc D. is the engineer and Mike (Rocky) R. is the conductor.
Of course just before 305 came the light dropped due to a heavier overcast moving in but, it didn't affect the video to much. Luc gave a little extra horn work which, for some reason, makes me feel good when engineers do that. I got a big wave from Mike then, they were gone, leaving a very happy Rail-fan. On the point - CN #2705 Dash 9-44CW; CN #2416 Dash 8-40CM; 95 cars deep dpu CN #8816 SD70M-2 - 158 cars.
Now the wait was on for CN L535 (The Plaster Rock Turn). It collects/drops off loaded/empties and shunts the Forest Products companies between Gordon yard in Moncton and Plaster Rock, MP 154.7, on the Napadogan Sub. It becomes L536 on it's return trip, bringing with it the loads it collected on it's way up and back. The loads will be on the following day's CN 305.
It was 18:58 and dark when L535 hit the crossing. Two units and four cars. Too dark for numbers. I decided to use both my cameras to try different night shots of it. Not impressive results.
So, this is the last part of the March 11/11 'trilogy'. 4 ½ trains is a good day for McGivney.
I hope you've enjoyed them

SUMMARY
=======
Quebec City (pronounced (listen) or ; French: Québec [kebɛk] (listen); French: Ville de Québec, Abenaki language: Kephek ), officially Québec, is the capital city of the Canadian province of Quebec. The city had a population estimate of 531,902 in July 2016 (an increase of 3.0% from 2011), and the metropolitan area had a population of 800,296 in July 2016 (an increase of 4.3% from 2011), making it the second largest city in Quebec after Montreal, and the seventh largest metropolitan area and eleventh largest city in the country. Until the early 19th century it was the metropolis of present-day Canada, after which it was surpassed by Montreal. The Algonquian people had originally named the area Kébec, an Algonquin word meaning where the river narrows, because the Saint Lawrence River narrows proximate to the promontory of Quebec and its Cape Diamant. Explorer Samuel de Champlain founded a French settlement here in 1608, and adopted the Algonguin name. Quebec City is one of the oldest European cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec) are the only fortified city walls remaining in the Americas north of Mexico. This area was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 as the Historic District of Old Québec. The city's landmarks include the Château Frontenac hotel that dominates the skyline and the Citadelle of Quebec, an intact fortress that forms the centrepiece of the ramparts surrounding the old city and includes a secondary royal residence. The National Assembly of Quebec (provincial legislature), the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec), and the Musée de la civilisation (Museum of Civilization) are found within or near Vieux-Québec.
