10 Things to do in Matera, Italy Travel Guide Food Video Transcript:
One destination that’s been at the very top of our travel bucket list for a while now is Matera, and on this trip to Italy, we were determined to make it happen!
Nicknamed “the stone city”, Matera has been quite literally dug out of the rock, and it’s a sight you won’t soon forget. Set on the slope of a rocky ravine, the landscape is dominated by cave dwellings, zigzagging staircases, and early churches that hold some incredible frescoes once you set foot inside.
During our visit, we stayed in the “sassi”, which is the ancient town, and in our opinion, the best way to soak in the vibe of this place.
Now in this video, we’re going to take you on a tour of the city and show you some of the things you can see, do and eat when you visit Matera.
Matera is well-known for its rupestrian churches, carved into the rock and covered in frescoes.
We first stopped by Chiesa Rupestre di San Pietro Barisano, which is the largest rock church in the city of Matera.
We wanted to show you the frescoes, so we continued to Convento di Sant’Agostino, a church and convent dating back to the late 16th Century. We started walking uphill via a series of staircases and winding streets, until we found ourselves in front of Matera Cathedral.
The rocky landscape we noticed is called Murgia (MoorJa) National Park and it’s an archaeological site with cliffs, gorges & caves.
Let’s take a quick break to introduce you to Materan cuisine. Like most of the establishments in Matera, this restaurant was set in a cave and we ate pasta, wine & dessert?
We spent a lot of time visiting cave churches, but for a look at how locals lived in these troglodyte dwellings, we visited Casa Grotta.
The Sassi District is a made up of a network of dwellings carved into the steep slopes of the valley walking into the Casa Grotta.
We visited Palombaro Lungo, a massive water cistern that sits directly under Matera’s main square.
After visiting Palombaro Lungo, we also found ourselves in front of the ruins of Chiesa del Santo Spirito. The church sits beneath Piazza Vittorio Veneto where you can make out frescoes on the walls.
Continuing our quest for Materan cuisine, we ended up at Ristorante Nadi - another cave restaurant that we stumbled upon by chance to see if we could get through a 4 course meal.
Our final recommendation for Matera would be to explore the city at night. Matera looks magical between sunset and blue hour and it was a pleasure to wander around with camera in hand.
And that’s a wrap for Matera! We hope you guys enjoyed discovering Italy’s famed Stone City, and we’ll see you soon with more videos from Italy.

Places to see in ( Lourdes - France ) Basilique Saint Pie X
Places to see in ( Lourdes - France ) Basilique Saint Pie X
The Basilica of Saint Pius X, informally known as the Underground Basilica, is a large Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, located in the town of Lourdes, France. It is part of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Lourdes is a major Catholic pilgrimage site and the Catholic Church endorses the belief that the Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette Soubirous there.
The Basilica of St. Pius X is the largest and most controversial of the Domain's churches. It was completed in 1958 in anticipation of the enormous crowds expected in Lourdes for the centenary of the Apparitions. A modern, concrete building, it is almost entirely underground (part of the building lies beneath the Boulevard Père Rémi Sempé above).
The Basilica was designed by the architect Pierre Vago. The nave is oval, 191 metres (627 ft) long and 61 metres (200 ft) wide, and slopes gently upwards from the centre, where the sanctuary is situated on a raised platform. The ceiling is low, at only 10 metres (33 ft) high, and is supported by 58 pre-stressed concrete pillars which meet 29 concrete beams which cross the ceiling, giving it the impression of an upturned ship. This design creates a very large open space, of 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft), for maximum visibility from any part of the nave. When full it can accommodate up to 25,000 worshippers.
On the walls there are 52 images in the gemmail style of overlapping stained glass. On the west ramp are the 15 traditional Mysteries of the Rosary, and on the east ramp are the 15 Stations of the Cross, designed by Denys de Solère. On the lower part of the east side is the series Bernadette's Way of Light, based on sketches by René Margotton, which depict the eighteen apparitions together with two scenes from her life. There are two further images, one on each side of the entrance to the sacristy.
The consecration of the basilica was on March 25, 1958 by Angelo Cardinal Roncalli, who was earlier the Papal Nuncio to France, then Patriarch of Venezia, and who later became Pope John XXIII. The consecration year was selected to celebrate the centenary of the 18 visions of the Virgin Mary by Saint Bernadette. This basilica is one of the largest churches inspired by Visions of Jesus and Mary.
( Lourdes - France ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Lourdes . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Lourdes - France

20 Things to do in Venice, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (VENEZIA ITALIA):
We’re taking you on a whirlwind tour of Venice in winter visiting the famed Floating City. Join us as we show you the best things to see, do and eat in Venice.
The Vaporetto is Venice’s water bus service. The standard ticket is 7.50 Euros and valid for 60 minutes, the 1 day pass is 20 Euros and valid for 24 hours.
The most visited attraction in Venice: Piazza San Marco where there is quite a bit to see and do around the square beginning with St Mark’s Basilica.
St Mark’s Campanile, a tall brick bell tower was once used by approaching ships as a beacon to guide them home where you get great views of the city.
Then you have the Doge’s Palace, which was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the ruler of the former Republic of Venice built in the Venetian Gothic style.
Don't forget the Bridge of SIghs, whose name refers to the sighs of prisoners who would get their last glimpse of Venice as they were led from Doge's Palace to their cells.
Across to the other side of the Grand Canal, you have the Basilica of Saint Mary of Health and the Galleria dell’Accademia in case you’re in the mood for art.
A restaurant we really enjoyed La Zucca - a place where all the dishes are made with pumpkin! The Rialto Market specializes in produce and fresh seafood for self-catering.
Let’s talk about island hopping in Venice:
Founded in the 5th century, Torcello is even older than Venice and was the original settlement in the Venetian Lagoon with lots of walking paths, nature and Byzantine mosaics.
Burano is known for its lace work and brightly coloured homes with plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops to browse.
Mazzorbo island sits next to Burano and is connected by a bridge while being known for its vineyards and orchards.
Murano is renowned for its glass production dating back to 1291 when the glassmakers in Venice were forced to relocate by the Venetian government.
Lido is an 11-kilometre sandbar island that shelters the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea with beaches, lots of seaside homes, and this is also where the Venice Film Festival takes place.
A restaurant we liked in Venice is Osteria Mocenigo specializing in local cuisine. Try the “Sarde in saor” - a typical Venetian dish made with sardines.
While your vaporetto pass is valid ride the canals at night and watch the Floating City come to life.
We hope you enjoyed this Venice travel guide and that it gave you a few ideas for your own trip.

Quebec - Canada
Quebec It is the only Canadian province with a predominantly French-speaking identity and the only one whose sole official language is French at the provincial level. Quebec is Canada's largest province by area and its second-largest administrative division; only the territory of Nunavut is larger. It is bordered to the west by the province of Ontario, James Bay and Hudson Bay, to the north by Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay, to the east by the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick. It is bordered on the south by the U.S. states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. It also shares maritime borders with Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
Quebec is the second most populous province, after Ontario. Most inhabitants live in urban areas near the Saint Lawrence River between Montreal and Quebec City, the capital. English-speaking communities and English-language institutions are concentrated in the west of the island of Montreal but are also significantly present in the Outaouais, the Eastern Townships, and Gaspé regions. The Nord-du-Québec region, occupying the northern half of the province, is sparsely populated and inhabited primarily by Aboriginal peoples.
Sovereignty plays a large role in the politics of Quebec, and the Official Opposition social democratic Parti Québécois advocates national sovereignty for the province and secession from Canada. Sovereignist governments have held referendums on independence in 1980 and 1995; both were voted down by voters, the latter defeated by a very narrow margin. In 2006, the Canadian House of Commons passed a symbolic motion recognizing the Québécois as a nation within a united Canada.
While the province's substantial natural resources have long been the mainstay of its economy, sectors of the knowledge economy such as aerospace, information and communication technologies, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry also play leading roles. These many industries have all contributed to helping Quebec become the second most economically influential province, second only to Ontario. ( source Wikipedia )

Quebec Travel Guide | Visiting The Eastern Townships Video Transcript:
In today’s video we’re taking you to Quebec’s Eastern Townships, specifically Sutton!
Neither Sam nor I had been here before, but this destination proved to have it all, from unique accommodations and adventure activities to beautiful hiking trails and an emerging foodie scene.
We spent 2 days exploring the area in partnership with Tourisme Quebec and Merrell Canada, and here’s a look at what we got up to!
Our first stop was La Rumeur Affamée, which is a gourmet food shop right in the heart of Sutton specializing in local products. We dropped by to pick up a few items for a picnic since we had an action-packed day ahead of us. And being the foodies that we are, we couldn’t resist sampling a few cheese and caramel spreads while we were in there!
With our picnic lunch sorted, we got in the car and drove out to Au Diable Vert.
This place started out as a mountain lodge, but it’s grown to become an outdoor playground with lots of activities on offer.
After watching a quick instruction video, it was time to hop on this zipline bicycle Vélo Volant!
The circuit ran through the forest, over ponds, along ravines, and we also got glimpses of the Green Mountains of Vermont off in the distance.
The nice thing about this activity is that we could only go as fast as we pedalled, and we were encouraged to take it slow and stop to enjoy nature and our surroundings.
Once we reached the rooster, we chose one of the many trails on the property.
Later on in the afternoon, we went kayaking in the river, where the staff’s only warning was, “Don’t paddle more than 5 kilometres south or you’ll end up in Vermont!”
The waters here were dark but very shallow and calm with hardly a current, so if you’ve been wanting to try kayaking, this is a great place to do so for the first time.
I also noticed that they had Stand Up Paddleboarding, but it was early autumn, and we weren’t sure we wanted to go for a swim if we lost our balance!
We did a daytime unguided kayaking tour, but they also offer guided moonlight tours if that’s more your thing.
From there, we drove back to our chalet at Huttopia, which was our home away from home.
That afternoon we drove into Sutton. This is a charming little town in the Eastern Townships and it’s very walkable, so we parked that car and ventured out on foot.
The main street here is lined with cafes, boutiques, art galleries and historic buildings, so we enjoyed a leisurely stroll before making our way to a microbrewery for dinner at A L’Ábordage.
And that’s a wrap for our adventures in and around Sutton. We hope you guys enjoyed this video, and we’ll see you in the next one where we continue our trip through Quebec’s Eastern Townships!
This is part of our Travel in Canada video series showcasing Canadian food, Canadian culture and Canadian cuisine.

Visit Quebec Road Trip | Eastern Townships Travel Guide Video Transcript:
In our last video, Sam and I spent two days enjoying some outdoor adventures in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, and this video is a continuation of that road trip.
After two days in Sutton, we drove to Mont-Mégantic National Park, which was 2 hours away, though in reality it took us longer because we couldn’t resist stopping for some poutine along the way.
This trip was all about enjoying nature and the outdoors, and we once again teamed up with Tourisme Quebec and Merrell Canada. We stayed in a futuristic cabin in the woods, tackled a few hikes, learned about the universe at AstroLab, and stopped at more than one road side attraction along the way.
Now here’s a recap of that trip!
One thing to keep in mind when it comes to hiking in this park, is that it’s divided into two sectors: the Franceville Sector and the Observatoire Sector. The Franceville sector is located in the northwest end of the park, which is where our cabins were so this is where we went hiking.
During our stay in Mont-Mégantic National Park, we also visited the ASTROLab, which is an astronomy research centre focused on making science accessible to the public.
Our main reason for coming all the way out here was to do some stargazing! Mont-Mégantic is located in the heart of the first International Dark Sky Reserve and that means it’s an astronomy lover’s paradise. Because there’s hardly any light pollution in the area, it’s the perfect place to see and study the stars, however, fog and rain did put a bit of a damper on our plans.
We did drive up to Mont Mégantic to see the observatory and Mont Saint-Joseph to see the chapel, but there weren’t too many views to be had on that day.
Because star-gazing wasn’t possible that night, we went out for a nice leisurely dinner at Aux Toits Rouges. This is a country lodge with its own in-house restaurant and we got a little adventurous with our dishes.
The summit of Mont Ham sits at 713 metres above sea level, but it only has a prominence of 358 metres, so it’s a fairly lighthike.
On our road trip through the Eastern Townships, we also took two little detours. The first was to visit Abbaye St-Benoit-du-Lac), which is an abbey known for its multicoloured bricks and tiled floors.
The 2nd was the Marais de la Rivière aux Cerises, which is an area with boardwalks and walking trails through marshland.
And that pretty much brings us to the end of our whirlwind trip through Quebec’s Eastern Townships! We hope you guys enjoyed following along and we’ll see you in the next video.
This is part of our Travel in Canada video series showcasing Canadian food, Canadian culture and Canadian cuisine.

We kicked off our first morning with a ride on Lisbon’s most iconic tram line:#28 bound for panoramic vistas and a hilltop castle. After postcard perfect views looking down over Alfama we went towards the castle, with a little detour offering a bit of street art.
St George Castle is a Moorish castle that looks down over the historic centre and the Tagus River. It’s one of the main tourist landmarks in the city and you get great views of Lisbon.
We circled back to visit the Jeronimos Monastery. Construction of this monastery was ordered by King Manuel, who selected the religious order of Hieronymite monks to occupy the monastery.
Pastéis de nata were created by the monks at the Jerónimos Monastery, and seeing as we were right next door, this was a very logical stop. After browsing at the Sunday Market we walked over to the Santa Justa Elevator, which is the only street lift in Lisbon for public service.
We hope you enjoyed our Lisbon travel guide and found it useful for planning your own trip. If you have any other suggestions of things to do in Lisbon please share those in the comments below.
